The Winking Lizard Blend, which was designed by The Winking Lizard Tavern operating partner John Lane for the Ohio restaurant chain of the same name, and crafted in a blending session with Lane, GK, Stone President and Co-founder Steve Wagner, Bremaster Mitch Steele and the aforementioned Moynier. It’s a blend of Stone Cali-Belgique IPA, unreleased Stone Belgian Pale Ale aged in White Wine Barrels and Stone LeVariation Ale (Stone Levitation Ale fermented with the yeast strand utilized for our Belgian IPA, Stone Cali-Belgique IPA) aged in Red Wine Barrels that’s been dry-hopped with East Kent Golding Hops. (Whew!) Coming in around 8% ABV, it’s immensely fruity from the vino and Belgian yeast esters, and built as something of an “homage” to the Belgian Trappist classic, Orval. This beer will be featured at The Winking Lizard Tavern locations the entire month of June along with numerous other Stone beers.

Draft @ WOB - Dadeland Stone tap takeover. Pours clear copper color with off white head. Aromas of pine and citrus with some toasted malts, Belgian yeast. Pine and citrus flavors with the wine barrels coming through. Some lightly toasted malts and Belgian yeast also. Medium body with average carbonation. I was quite surprised with this one.

Enjoyed in a snifter glass on my bday at World of Beer, Tempe. Figured I’d better get it before it disappears. Interesting mix of Belgian style happiness with something slightly sour and fruity, I assume from the red wine barrels. Not my favorite Stone but still quite good.

Wine barrel comes through. Probably best Belgian ipa I have had but more a wine barrel ale. Sweet good balance interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear orange/red pour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, vinous, and taste is similar with a white wine flavor coming through. Good brew

On tap at Pickwick and Frolic: came clear golden, faint fizzy thin ring. Nose of Belgian candied esters, yeast, strawberries, nectarines. Unique body as this feels like a crossover of beer and wine. Rich carbonation, drying finish as there's a white wine presence powering through at the end. Belgian IPA meets red and white wine oak barrels.. Interesting and I applaud the effort. A bit estery for some I'd suspect ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I may not be a fan of the over the top hop bombs that Stone usually produces but when they do Belgian IPA’s, I like and this is no exception. Big farmhouse aroma and a nice medium hit of hops. Really enjoyable. I wish they did more like this.

Bottle from World Beer Fest in Cleveland, very strong beer, tasted like the Stone Cali-Belgique, hops and sweetness, good

Draft. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus and earthy yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

On tap. Wonderful banana/clove aroma. Clean darkish gold hue. First taste reveals a sour wine center with fruity hop edges - not unpleasant . The aftertaste however is acrid on steroids. The dry bitterness lingers in the recesses of your mouth for hours. Overall not a happy experience.
