Pours red with a tan head. The aroma is fruity with grapefruit, cherries, grapes, and a hint of wood. The flavor is sweet and bitter with cherries dominating. Its actually a lot like cherry flavored cough syrup, with a hint of cherry vanilla coke. Sweet and spicy. There is some grainy malt flavor toward the finish, which is dry, woody, and bitter. This is an OK beer.

Bottle from the Bottle Shop in Lancaster. Pours chestnut with a good creamy beige head. A really fruity taste to begin with. Lots of tropical notes, mango especially. The initial sweetness gives way to a nice long bitter finish with plenty of pine. A damn tasty ale, although I prefer the unoaked version.

Bottle. Super dark amber. Aroma is heavy rich malts, oak wood, and pine. The taste adds caramel, a lot of oak, and a citrus hop bitter note on the finish. Low carb, rich coating in the palate. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice coffee aroma. Ruby brown cloudy colour with ok head. Strong malty flavour up front with bitter finish. Heavy body with low to medium carbonation.

Dark brown amber color with a tan head. Rich malt aroma with dried dark fruit and oak. Flavor starts with caramel malt followed with grapefruit and finishing with a dry oaky finish.

355ml bottle from Utobeer. Pours opaque brown with big off-white head. Malty toffee nose, taste is bitter roast, caramel and twiglets. Can’t detect much of an oak influence. A bit too rich for my liking.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, courtesy of my kids for Fathers Day :-) Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is malt, resin hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth big wood, toffee resin hop bitter, light toothpaste, boozy alcohol palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A rather unusual beer and highly drinkable.

Bouteille. Saveur Biere. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ruddy copper and shimmering in the glass. Big, rocky crown of foam is resilient to fade. Good lace. Sweet, sticky, piney, resinous, whole hop flower nose tinged by notes reminiscent of nan’s favourite rose garden, peanut husks, uncooked sticky date pudding batter and pot pourri. Big orange blossom, honey, camphor and rose petal palate. Oily in feel and soft in carbonation with a medium light to medium body. Burnt sugar back end is with little on show of hops. Ends with dashy diacetyl and vanillin which lasts along with way too much burnt toast. Easily quaffed for strength but a little disappointing overall. (12fl.Oz, illegible best by date but assured a fresh sample, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

12oz bottle. Not aged. Pours a deep amber/caramel with a half finger, off white head that laces well. Aroma has notes caramel, barrel, and some sweetness. Taste is sweeter but balanced. Big caramel/dark fruit notes with some hops and barrel taste and a drawn out, bitter finish. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Smooth in the mouth. Overall a really great beer. Lots of caramel/real fruit flavour blended with barrel notes. Yum.
