Pours adeep copper to amber color has an unfiltered appearance thick tan head strong alcohol burn sweet malt flavor good hop bitterness not as much aroma as BIgfoot still nice fruity malty aromas and flavors a little light on the bite chocolate flavors emerge upon warming, good solid malt lacks depth in the hops but still a good barley wine.

Carmel, toasty, molases and licorice on the nose. Pours a reddish hue with a surprisingly small head. Taste is a punch in the face but still pretty balanced, both very malty and hoppy. Body is full. I enjoyed this one more than I expected.

Bottled. This pours a deep copper color with a small amount of fizzy head. The aroma is sweet with a slight malt/hop mix that smells REALLY good. I only wish the taste matched. This is the same old over-hopped bitter beer from Stone with a sharp alcoholic bite to it. For some reason, it reminds me of sake, only bitter.

Dark amber colored beer with large white head. The nose is full of sweet woody aromas, and some dried fruits, peach. Full bodied beer, of course. Creamy texture. Flavors of orange, alcohol, bitter hops and grass. Nice bitter finish.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Brassy colour with minimal white head. Aroma hints at banana, caramel/toffee, nuts and hops. Suprisingly syrupy and pushing towards sweet. hop bitterness is present, but not as strong as i’d have first expected... esp. in a beer from Stone. the 11.26% abv is well hidden in this beer with the exception of the syrupiness. Excellent.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 30, 2013 Pours orangish-copper with a tiny head. Aroma is smoke, fruit, citrusey hops and honey. (Someone mentioned bacon, which I can smell too, but never would’ve identified that note if I hadn’t read it elsewhere!) Taste is a nice, strong mix of sweet and simultaneous bitterness. Finish remains bitter. Mouthfeel is full and thick. An intense beer. The sweetness functions nicely to balance the bitterness. I’m not too familiar with barley wines so I can’t really put this in the context of that particular style. Pretty damn delicious nonetheless. Would love to try this on tap.

Bomber. Red-orange with tan foam. Aroma is sweet candy, rubarb, passionfruit and oranges. Taste is full sweetness of citrus, rubarb with slight sour-bitter grape aftertaste. Full body, creamy and sticky, average carbonation, a little alcohol and bitter finish. Overall: Great beer, drinkable and tasty.

Old Guardian 2012
Aroma: Caramel, bread and a hint of citrus hops
Body:Toffee and some alcohol sweetness, big hoppy bitterness, hint of bread
Finish:Hop bitter and dry, some alcohol
Over-all/Mouth-feel:This is a big beer! A little edgy and you. Some ageing would make it smoother.
