Pours a dark, hazy orange color with little to no head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and full of hops. The taste is intense...again malty and just chock full of hop flavor. Another fine Stone brew.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This slightly foggy, amber beer had a small, frothy off white head, which quickly faded away. The aroma was heavily hopped, slightly sweet (maybe grapefruit) and the scent of pine was also apparent. The flavor was a little bitter, presumably because of all the hops. Again could detect a sweet citrus flavor. Its finish had a moderate alcohol burn. However, I noticed that as the beer warmed, the alcohol aftertaste diminished and I was left with a more pleasant beer to savor. Personally, if I am going to drink a Barley wine I would prefer the English styles, such as Thomas Hardy’s or JW Lee’s. If, however, you prefer extremely hoppy beer, go for this one, you may enjoy it.

Think I’d age this if given the opportunity...poured almost ruby with a fleeting cream-colored head. Good deal of alcohol to the nose and initial taste, but not exactly harsh. I’ll give it another shot in a year!

It was a 2007 beer that I had in 2009 It was a special release. A amber almost pink color when held up to the lights. The beer was smooth and malty with a nice balance. The alcohol level in this beer does not push over the taste. A nice Big beer.

Pours a nice amber color with white head. Hoppy taste as most Stone beers, but with a strong vanilla flavor as well.

2009 Version. Had a wonderful color to it like a great CA sunset. Not for the faint of heart by anymeans but does hide its ABV nicely. Aroma lent itself more towards the fruit side.

Vintage 2009. Cloudy garnet with a cap of off-white heat which recedes to a patchy film. Aroma is bitter, resinous hops, alcohol, and sweet fruit. Taste is extremely bitter and alcoholic, though the malt shows up as the beer warms. An odd ash-like flavor gives this barleywine a refreshing crispness. Nice.

2013 bomber. Dark amber, red color. Aroma is bread, caramel, citrus hops. Mouthful is full and thick. Fruity front, malty/caramel middle, better back that liners with alcohol notes. My first barleywine, and I’m hooked. Looking forward too my second bottle a year or two from now.
