A: A beautiful dark amber with a 3/4 inch head of foam. Decent retention with great lacing. S: Very sweet and malty smelling. I smell some hop character in there too. T: Very hoppy and malty at the same time. Biter from the beginning to the end. M: Not heavy, but very bitter. Can taste the bitterness for a long time after. O: A great looking beer and the aromas are nice. But the taste is to bland and bitterness doesn't match up with the taste for some reason, because I love bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a beautiful reddish orange with a disappearing tan head. Aroma of red berries, bread and caramel malt. Full body, smooth, flavour is sweet berries, toffee. 2015 version, could probably be improved with a couple of years in the cellar.

Tap @ BrewDog. Reddish orange brown, reasonable head. Boiled sweet & alcohol aroma. Hoppy barley sugar flavour. Bitter sweet hoppy aftertaste. Not a typical barley wine but that is no bad thing.

Keg at brewdog bar, Sheffield. Amber with white head. Aroma is golden syrup and raisins and toffee (drunk with cold). Taste is strong bitterness and umami in spades. Alcohol hum on the tongue, and sticky full body, medium carbonation. Good stuff.

Bottle, vintage 2015. I’ve had this a few times but I guess I’ve never rated it. Appearance is reddish brown with white head. Aroma is pine, citrus, caramel, and brown sugar. Taste is burnt brown sugar, pine, caramel, with a bitter hoppy finish. Medium mouthfeel, lots of carb. Overall, this is a great hoppy American barleywine, happy to have this any old time.

Draft at Bricks. Pours hazy brown with no head. Some hops, caramel and alcohol on the nose. Taste is strong bitterness with some caramel sweetness. Improves greatly as it warms up.

Bottle. Earthy caramel malt, light sour milk, and hay aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet berry/apple, caramel malt, and moderately bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Nice body. Excellent.
