2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
(on bottle 2004 thamx Rasmus) Sligtly hay, dark orange, small beige head. Very mild aromas, surprice for me.Has some canesugar and tads of fat hops. Very sweet, almost cloyingly sweet tastes and and huge alcohol lash to the finish. Somewhat unbalanced, still.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled. This pours a deep copper color with a small amount of fizzy head. The aroma is sweet with a slight malt/hop mix that smells REALLY good. I only wish the taste matched. This is the same old over-hopped bitter beer from Stone with a sharp alcoholic bite to it. For some reason, it reminds me of sake, only bitter.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
04 on tap at Falling Rock Tap House. I was super dissappointed in this brew. So much so that i picked up a bottle at the store convinced that I had a bad batch. Will rerate when I try again. hazy peach/amber pour iwth thick creamy head. big malt aroma, fruity, cardboard, sugar, appricot, musky, and mild earthy hops. very tart(makes you pucker), rediculous bitterness that hits immediately. earthy, musky maltiness, wet paper, dark fruit. Couldnít finish the pint.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
2009 bottle with Jay, Ray, Chris and Pat. Pours a murky orange amber with one finger of beige head and good lace. Nose of caramel, cardboard, oxidation. Medium body. Sweet, hot bitter. Would have thought this would have aged gracefully but I could barely finish a small pour.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2008 ajmís review below mine sums it up well. I found this to be very lackluster, and bland.
bottle shared with MiguelMandingo
Pours dark amber to copper with a fair amount of transluscency. Smell is very mildly malty with a hint of alcohol and almost what I would expect an oxidized beer to be like. Taste is equally mild flavorwise with a hint of maltiness, balancing hops, but a subdued flavor overall with good bitterness on the finish and a noticeable alcohol presence. Below average for sure, I felt.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2012 2012 bottle: Pours a orange copper penny color with aroma of citurs and floral hops. Taste is very hoppy and bitter throughout the beer. A grassy pine needle note, with a floral highlight. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers well after the swallow. Overall a decent barleywine, just not my style.

2009 vintage on tap at Kalamazoo beer exchange. Very cloudy orange, sparse offwhite suds on top. Aroma of orange peel, clove, coriander. Thick tingly mouth feel, sharp alcohol-y flavor, lots of malt. Finish is sweet malt, some bitter hops, pine mostly. Very dry finish, alcohol content very apparent.
