mansquito (652), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Apr 5, 2007 2007 Edition: I mean, there is a freakin’ picture right there, so I do not need to really describe nothing right... well anyway, don’t pour it into a trappiste glass cause you ain’t gonna get no head proper right. Anyway, onto the beer: hella fuckin’ fruity smell. You know this beer is going to be freakin’ sweet right. Well anyway, the taste at first strikes you for the bitterness. But you know, there is hella more. I mean its like, there is bitterness, but guess what, there is also other shit and you gotta learn to deal right. It’s like full of all sorts of flavours that I can only say are delicious, hella fuckin’ delicious. This is a slow drinkin’ brew; you can’t swill this obviously and if you attempt it you ought to just go to a different website. Panaply of flavors, all of which I savour. Better this than something else, let us all indulge ourselves. Whatever, this beer rocks my socks.
drjay44 (165), Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a thick lasting tan head, with nice lacing, over a dark golden slightly cloudy body....nose of malts, resin, bitter and slightly floral hops....initial taste of sweet malts, then hop spice, with a bit of molasses, finishing with a pronounced hop bitter. These big creations must be hard to balance. KUDOS!!! KnutAlbert (2350), Oslo, Norway Oct 8, 2008 Aroma of sweet and spicy fruit. Lovely amber beer with small beige head.
Fruit, nuts, bitter almonds. Grassy and dusty hops balances the sweetness impressivly. Alcohol warming in the background and in the finish. ATLBeerDog (235), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2008 2008 Bottle – Pours a bright orange/red that is rather cloudy. Smells of fruits, malts and hops. First sip is surprisingly light, creamy, and fruity. The hops are huge, even borderline sticky but not biting or overpowering. Finishes with a strong alcohol presence and a sharp bitterness. Great mouthfeel and a great Barley Wine. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 29, 2008 From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event.
Pours dark amber with large tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, toffee and hops.
Excellent barley wine with slightly bitter finish. Love the Stonies.
