chokmah33 (107), Bremerton, Washington, USA May 6, 2008 Sweet juice-like aromas of pear and banana dominate. Lavender and cinnamon notes. Produces a laquer-like burn on the nose. Pastry dough malt aroma, hint of hops.
Flavor of carmel apple up front, some sour hops in mid, toasted malts. Finishes slighlty bitter, but fruity, like sour apples.
Groggy alchohol flavors, like cherry coke + whisky.
Acidic palate,major alchohol burn. Vibrant hops-induced dryness that I didn’t expect in a B-wine.
drjay44 (164), Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a thick lasting tan head, with nice lacing, over a dark golden slightly cloudy body....nose of malts, resin, bitter and slightly floral hops....initial taste of sweet malts, then hop spice, with a bit of molasses, finishing with a pronounced hop bitter. These big creations must be hard to balance. KUDOS!!! KnutAlbert (2322), Oslo, Norway Oct 8, 2008 Aroma of sweet and spicy fruit. Lovely amber beer with small beige head.
Fruit, nuts, bitter almonds. Grassy and dusty hops balances the sweetness impressivly. Alcohol warming in the background and in the finish. Outstanding! finalcut (5), , Ohio, USA does not count Oct 7, 2008 dark orange beer poured into a glass. aroma of mostly malt with a hint of hops. the taste has a good balance of hops and malt. it leaves a satisfying taste of hops hanging in your mouth after a bitter finish. ATLBeerDog (233), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2008 2008 Bottle – Pours a bright orange/red that is rather cloudy. Smells of fruits, malts and hops. First sip is surprisingly light, creamy, and fruity. The hops are huge, even borderline sticky but not biting or overpowering. Finishes with a strong alcohol presence and a sharp bitterness. Great mouthfeel and a great Barley Wine. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 29, 2008 From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event.
Pours dark amber with large tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, toffee and hops.
Excellent barley wine with slightly bitter finish. Love the Stonies.
