Vintage 2009, bottle from Central Market Plano. Dark gold, thick lingering head & lacing. Fine brandy, alcohol & hops on the nose with caramel & sticky dark fruit. Bold blast of alcohol on the tongue, rum soaked raisins & cedar, nice bitterness. Smells sweeter than it tastes. A very sophisticated representative of barley wine. Gasp...after taste lingers with a nice brandy-like warming sensation. Would order again- a great beer for a special occassion or as a winter-food companion.

Årgång 2014. En öl som med extra allt. Ordentligt med smak, mycket alkohol och beska. Den kräver rätt tillbehör för att komma till sin rätt.

This beer has a nice and clear copper color with a small off white head. Aroma has notes of caramel, sweet malts, bit of booze, toffee, grassy hops. Flavour goes the same and it goes hard, malty, toffee, bitter hops, bit boozy, a slight raisin flavour. Full bodied and with an oily texture, carbonation is not too big, enough to tickle your touge a tiny bit. This is a heavy barley wine, would probably benefit from sitting a year or so imo. It’s really nice, although I prefer the english kind.

Schwerer, hopfig alkoholischer Antrunk. Geringe, kaum steigende Herbe, schokoladig, trocken. Der Alkohol brennt zum Ende etwas, vergleichsweise süffig. Langer schokoladiger Nachhall, etwas Pfeffer. 8/9/8/9/11/9

Bottle from Systembolaget. Creamy white head, amber body. Smells of dark bread, yeast, spices, soy beans. Tastes very hoppy, roasted malt, salt and sweet, with a bitter finish.

2013 vintage 650ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a dense head and solid lacing. Big caramel and marmalade nose, heather honey, spice and dank hops. Everything translates from nose to palate, a joy to drink wish I had more.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2015 Good, strong, bittersweet beer. A touch of alcohol in the finish -- I think that both this and IRS are at their best after at least a year of aging.

Deep amber color with a fine tan head. Good lacing. Lots of dried fruits. Full body and an ok carbonation. Not to sweet really. Quite balanced. Complex and tasty stuff. Dried fruits, toffee, citric and some pine. Solid stuff.
[On tap at Steampunk Bar in Gothenburg, Sweden]
