Unibonger (30), Mount Shasta, California, USA May 8, 2009 Pours a nice dark amber with a frothy, creamy head that has good retention. Nice malty aroma with a slight hint of hops. Strong malty flavor with a good balance of bitterness. Has a good thirst amount of carbonation that tingles the tongue lightly. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 7, 2009 nice golden pour, mild head retention and fades.
very good hop smell with a toasty like scent in there too. I like.
flavor has toasty malts with great hop blend.
medium carbonated well with a residual sticky sugary malty aftertaste. jr1610 (15), San Marcos, Texas, USA May 5, 2009 Aroma is hops, dark wheat bread, floral notes, and some sweetness. I could smell this all day. Appearance is a bit of a hazy brown/copper color. Good thick off-white head when poured and then dissipates. Flavor consists of wheat bread, some sweetness, rich maltiness with a splash of hops which adds bitterness. Very nice. Overall, I really like this beer. It’s got flavor, looks great, and always leaves me satisfied. Very good beer. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 1, 2009 (Bottle). Pours a copper color. Medium off white head. Moderate to heavy lacing. Light hoppy aroma. Light hop and light alcohol flavor. Smooth finish. Moderate carbonation. kmyers8807 (25), Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2009 Bottle. actually a pretty fine pale ale. Not a big fan of the floral hops but the spices and carmal made it good. BroSpud (586), , Massachusetts, USA Apr 27, 2009 Draft. Skipjack’s, Natick. One of the better pale ales I have tasted. Good color. Nice hoppiness. Good session beer. Earlier Rating: 2/21/2009 Total Score: 3.3 Draft. Skipjack’s, Natick. One of the better pale ales I have tasted. Good color. Nice hoppiness. Good session beer.
Got this confused with Stone Brewing Co Pale Ale which is what I actually tasted. -spud twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 25, 2009 bottle.
Pours a clear middling burnished copper color, nice thick inch of off-white head that sticks around well. Smells of yeasty dark bread, tamed sweetness, and some light floral and spicy hop notes. Flavor follows the nose; sharp floral and mildly spicy bitterness, caramel bready malt sweetness with some yeasty twang. Seems like a combination of english and american pales. Palate is full, though carbonation a bit on the excessive side. Decent pale, not a standout but solid. Clean lightly bitter finish. Holdwine (905), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Apr 25, 2009 I like all the pales that Stone makes and didn’t realize I hadn’t rated this one before. A nice APA without the senses ambushing hops of some of their other offerings. Not that it is completely balanced, but they dio let their malting shine through between the bursts of slightly restained hopping.
