Superbly piney and sweet citrus aroma. Smooth sweet then enough of a bitter finish to match the sweetness. One of the top APA’s I’ve ever had. altehkiller (71), , California, USA

Quite hoppy and slightly malty. reminds me of sierra nevada pale ale. LtDan (478), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Appearance: Pours a translucent amber with a 1/2 inch of thick white foam topping of head.
Aroma: Light whiffs of malt sweetness
Taste: Starts off with heavy bitter hops. Then I get a nice English-like maltiness followed by some more bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Very carbonated and medium bodied.
Overall: A way better session beer than Levitation, an agressively hopped pale for fure. I like a bit more crispness and citrus in my California Pale Ales. shawnm213 (913), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a medium off white head and some lacing. The aroma is citrus and grassy with a light caramel malt. Actually, the nose is a bit disappointing. The flavor is a bit better. The malt presence is nice with some caramel and biscuity notes. Some citrus, fruit, and grassy hops round out the experience. Medium mouthfeel and possibly a decent session beer. sjolles85 (80), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2009 She pours clear amber with at least a full inch of foam which leaves an intricate network of lace as it fades into an attractive cap. As far as pale ales go, one of the far more impressive and tantalizing pours I have witnessed in a while. Looks aren’t everything though for we all know that true beauty lies within and not on the surface. It is my personal mission to discover her inner beauty and so I take my first step by savoring her generous nose; summer grass and sweet nectarines with a soothing toasted biscuit background. Notes of apple, lemon, and grapefruit mingle amidst their companions. Flush with excitement, I take my next intrepid step into her beery depths and discover more of her sweet nature; apricot and honey up front followed by summer grass. Balancing her sweet fruity side is a warm essence of toasted malts, biscuits, crackers, and crunchy nuts. The lemon and grapefruit I noticed in her nose linger in the breath as I revel in her clean and minimally dry finish. My glass empties sooner than I would have preferred, leaving me with a refreshed palate of grass, toast, honey, lemon and grapefruit. Inner beauty indeed.
I must say, Stone’s Pale Ale is most beauteous and the best American Pale Ale I have quaffed to date. Her balance of sweetness, toasty malts, and citric hop crispness is perfection. Stone has officially nabbed the top position when it comes to my pale ale of choice. Utterly sessionable with a rich balance of complexity so far unrivaled by any, may I have another please.
