Nice color and flavor. A good, quality beer.

Nose gives a preview of hops and malt lying ahead, and nothing else. Nice amber hue and very little head on top. It is a very nice balance of hops and malt for a pale ale. The hops jump all over your palate, then the malt pushes them out of the way for a very well rounded ale.

Sparkling amber, lasting off white head.Faint hop nose.Mellow hop flavor, which is slightly light for pale ale

It is very rare that I can sum up a beer
with one word, but in the case of this fine brew,
one word comes to mind: BALANCE.
The malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness
coexist in a perfect symetry. Walks a wonderful
line between hops and malt. Wonderful.

Maybe I should try again. I didn’t get this beer at all. Just kind of run of the mill good quality pale ale; not enough hops for me, and too much malt.

Pours a nice copper color with a good sized head, subtle floral aroma, good malty taste with nice hop balance, not the hoppiest of pales but quite nice

Very nice to look at, lovely complex flavor, excellent balance and finish. Would love to try this on tap, but in the mean time I’ll have another bottle please.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2005 4/7/02: Big head for a bottled beer...superb aroma, hops galore, sweet and puckery... and even better on tap..perhaps the best pale ale i’ve had on tap, but bottled... its slightly less hoppy and less sweet..A great californian pale ale from a great brewery..recommended... Re-rate 8/2/02: Not as godly as I once thought...still good and recommended but pale ale’s lack the complexity I now desire and require

Bring it on and keep it comin’. Can’t say enough about this one. No matter what time of day it is, no matter what I may be having for lunch or dinner, it just hits the spot. It’s a damn good beer. That wonderful hoppiness, typical of Stone brews, compliments my meal at the very least. Other times it even takes it to a higher level. You can’t go wrong with this pale.
