3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from Santa! Pours a dark orange color with a thin white foamy head. A center stream of very tiny bubbles move quickly towards the surface. Nose is light apricot, some thick sweet malt notes, caramel, little bit of grass. A nice full mouthfeel. A candy like taste, quite sweet, notes of orange seeds, light tangerine, quite fruity and sweet. A nmice bitterness in the finish that spreads from your throat to the tip of your tongue.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
A light carmel white head to begin with. Pine aroma that’s mixed with spices to give a nice after-taste. Far less agressive than your typical Stone brew. Very enjoyable, it is unfortunate that one has to order it via the internet to get it in Virginia.

Is this a hop devil I see before me? No ... it’s not quite as hoppy. But the basic idea is more Hop Devil than Ruination, more Cascade than Willamette, more orange and pine than grapefruit. Really nice beer ... just a little bit less hoppy and less intense than an IPA (of course) but more like a small IPA than a traditional American Pale. I’ll stick with the Stone IPA, I think.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
About as good as a pale ale can get. I have never found so many flavors in a style that is typically one dimensional. The aroma is of hops, but these are not intense as I expected. Light brown color with a thin head. Flavor is exceptional and very complex. The dominant flavor is a malt-bread combination, but there is also hop bitterness and some oak. Medium palate, but heavy for the style. Not as crisp and clean as some, but far more enjoyable than most.

Light golden brew with a mild hops aroma.I liked the mild flavor as it was very easy to drink with the hops not too in your face.
