Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

This should be better! For as good as Stone is at everything else - here is where it lacks a bit, and I am saddened by it! One nice thing is that it is thick for a pale which is interesting - but the flavor is not as kicking as it should be!

Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. After trying some of Stone’s "bigger" beers like Ruination, Double Bastard and the Russian Imperial Stout this one seems tame by comparison. I found both the aroma and the flavor to be rather subdued. More malt character than the typical APA but still not a bad brew. A good intro to the Stone line.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2009 Orange amber color with a moderate off white (yellowish) head. Nose is caramel. Flavor is rich and caramel sweet followed by just a hint of hop bitterness. Finish is light and dry with a smooth mellow palate. Nice ESB!

Excellent example of a fine American-style pale ale. Nice malty body with plenty of hops that more than balance the flavor.

This beer rocks. Wonderful aroma of rich malt and lively hops. Alcohol, caramel, toffee, vanilla and a unique hop spiciness are evident in the nose as well. A beautiful, sparkling, deep amber hue. Large, white, creamy head with excellent lacing. Mostly diminishing... eventually. The flavor is superb. Creamy rich malt. Slightly sweet up front. Medium bitter on the backside. Very well balanced. Notes of toffee, honey and caramel. Medium-bodied. Lively carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Nice, dry, crisp finish. Excellent pale ale. If I lived in Southern California, not many days would go by when I woudn’t enjoy one of these beautys. Reminds me a bit of Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale. If you enjoy this beer, you will certainly enjoy the Rogue as well.

Nice hop aroma with hints of caramel, pours a deep amber color with a nice head. Starts out malty but finishes long and hop bittery. This is what a pale ale should be.

This is more balanced than Ruination, but still has that Stone Character. Very hoppy, but a nice malt balance. This is the closest I’ve had to a Session beer from Stone.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2007 White head laced the rim of the glass after this beer settled. Color is a translucent brownish gold. The hops & malt were very balanced in this one. Excellent pale ale by Stone.

Ahh, a nice package of Stone arrived for me on Halloween. First off I try the Pale. This beer amber color and filtered. The taste was smooth and malty- slighty fruity. A pretty dank beer if I must say so.

Essence of lemony citrus in the nose and body. Cloudy light amber color, nice white head that is creamy around the edge. Somewhat watery towards the finish but as alcfron pointed out, does "thicken" when warming a bit. lingering bitter finish.
