It is very rare that I can sum up a beer
with one word, but in the case of this fine brew,
one word comes to mind: BALANCE.
The malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness
coexist in a perfect symetry. Walks a wonderful
line between hops and malt. Wonderful.

Maybe I should try again. I didnít get this beer at all. Just kind of run of the mill good quality pale ale; not enough hops for me, and too much malt.

Pours a nice copper color with a good sized head, subtle floral aroma, good malty taste with nice hop balance, not the hoppiest of pales but quite nice

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2005 4/7/02: Big head for a bottled beer...superb aroma, hops galore, sweet and puckery... and even better on tap..perhaps the best pale ale iíve had on tap, but bottled... its slightly less hoppy and less sweet..A great californian pale ale from a great brewery..recommended... Re-rate 8/2/02: Not as godly as I once thought...still good and recommended but pale aleís lack the complexity I now desire and require

Bring it on and keep it cominí. Canít say enough about this one. No matter what time of day it is, no matter what I may be having for lunch or dinner, it just hits the spot. Itís a damn good beer. That wonderful hoppiness, typical of Stone brews, compliments my meal at the very least. Other times it even takes it to a higher level. You canít go wrong with this pale.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
One word to start: Impressive.
Pours out to a beautiful copper color. Aroma is that of caramel, hops and fruit. The balance to this Pale Ale is nearly perfect. The hops are tasty, not shocking, and make this beer downright, delicious. I kept humming/singing íStone Brewí to the tune of Foghatís íStone Blueí (for the 70s challened, Foghat was a hard rock act.) as I drank it.
One of, if not the best pale out there. Yum.

This should be better! For as good as Stone is at everything else - here is where it lacks a bit, and I am saddened by it! One nice thing is that it is thick for a pale which is interesting - but the flavor is not as kicking as it should be!
