topherh (892), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jan 14, 2009 Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Flavor is nicely balanced and tamed down for a Stone Ale, but certainly not lacking in flavor. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 14, 2009 (10/31/08) Draught at Lucky Devils in Hollywood. Slightly hazy amber color with a medium stable off-white head. Nice floral hoppy aroma with some citrus and a bit of malt. Sweetish malty flavor at first with some caramel and bready notes and later turns to pleasant moderate hoppy bitterness. Rounded-bodied. nj4christ (26), Columbus, New Jersey, USA Jan 14, 2009 Well hopped and delightfully bitter. More drinkable than their IPA’s, but not lacking in flavor at all. Good beer. snook91901 (34), USA Jan 13, 2009 the thing that surprised me about this beer was how drinkable it was. for a brewery that takes itself so seriously as stone this is a toned down delicious pale ale. well hopped, in flavor aroma and bitterness. the hop flavors that come out most are the sweet piney and less of the bitter. shortlived off-white head. great high carbonation, light mouthfeel. go stone! jcu0155 (1), PHOENIX, Arizona, USA does not count Jan 12, 2009 Great IPA as a homebrewer myself I got to say this is my go to beer when I’m out of my own IPA ..Truth be known it’s as good or better than what I make and always tastes as fresh....Good Work Stone!!!! Bartzilla (441), San Diego, California, USA Jan 11, 2009 Simply delicious. I don’t have anything else to add that hasn’t been said already. It’s always a go-to beer. Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA Jan 8, 2009 Poured reddish brown with a thick, 2 finger, tan foamy head.
nose contained burnt malt, lots of hops, and grapefruit.
the taste is well balanced between roasted nut malts and hops, with less citrus than there was in the nose.
It’s a little sharp on the palate, but I think it might just be a little too cold for the style. Next time, I’ll let it sit out for 5 minutes before I serve it.
Overall, very impressive. Not as good as the FFF alpha king or nimbus pale ale, but it’s a damn good ale! Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA Jan 8, 2009 Pours a clear golden/amber color, some carbonation, nice creamy tan head which sticks around, tons of lacing afterwards. Scents of hops, malts, and citrus. Taste of bitter hops, and malts. There is a nice dry sweetness aftertaste. Medium body. Very drinkable. Another strong offering from Stone.
