Nice maltiness for a pale, mellowing the hops nicely. A little biscuit and citrus. This was a real nice example of the style. I think many brewers forget they are not making and IPA when they brew their standard pales. Have not been disappointed yet with any Stone brews thus far, plus the bottles give you something to read. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Bottle.Reddish brown pour, with a huge light tan head that slowly went down to a thin ring and stayed till the end. A nice subtle hop aroma, with a hint of roasted malt. The flavor is of hops, malt, and bread dough, with the amount of malt here you would expect it to be sweeter but instead it has just a nice dry hop finish, and I think I detected a slight alcohol taste at the end. Very Good , Will buy again . djd07 (733), Houston, Texas, USA

The aroma is verry hoppy and sweet with caramel. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is very hoppy with a dry finish. Easy to drink for a good session beer. A good pale ale from stone.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 30, 2008 Pours a dark copper/amber with a silky head, perfect level of carbonation, and lovely appearance. Aroma is of biscuits, caramel, and of grassy hops. Medium body. Taste is bready with grassy bitterness. Not nearly dry enough or bitter enough for an APA, it’s a good session beer nonetheless. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 30, 2008 Attractive red amber beer with lasting fine head. Caramel malt aroma with a mild hint of yeast. Hops are mild and very slightly citrusy. Lighter than expected body but still just sufficient maltiness to maintain a decent range. Moderate finish. A good but not an exceptional beer. Beautiful tan yet clear coloring with a milky white head. Drinks incredible smooth with just the right amount of bite. Currently my favorite. jhumphries69 (722), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown/copper that is brilliantly clear. The pour rouses a thick but short-lived, pillowy, light tan head. The aroma is both excellently hoppy and also thick with bready, doughy malts. The flavor follows the aroma - a clean, fresh bread maltiness with an excellent American hop flavor: hints of evergreen, a good bit of citrus, some herbal character, and a really mellow, resiny, hop goodness all around... At mid-tongue, the hop character peaks at a very clean bitterness with hints of evergreen spice. The bready malts carry through the finish, balancing the hop bitterness with a clever breadiness. The malt sweetness is quite low, but the beer still manages to be very malty. The mouthfeel is rich with some foaminess and subtle spritziness from the carbonation. The body is medium in fullness. Overall, a very nice, drinkable pale ale. everettvh (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
