EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Sep 21, 2008 This pale ale had too little aroma and an overbalanced amount of bitter for the thinness of flavor. Yet what flavor there was was good, and it was very drinkable, significantly better than generally available pale ales. Indulgence (141), Ajo, Arizona, USA Sep 20, 2008 I’m rather impressed with this one and can see why there is high marks, it is definately one of the best pale ales in the world. Incredible amber body with a brooding head, good lacing the way down... excellent malted body and balanced arangement of hops, body is quite creamy for such a low alchohol beer, overall, very nice beer and it is definately tops in the pale ale deparment. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper with a thin. whispy off-white head. Nose is a bit fruity, citrus hops, sweet malt. Taste is a bit biscuity, toasty, with a clean, citrusy bitterness complementing it. Finished with a lingering hop bitterness on the palate. Med-light body, moderate carbonation. Agree that this does seem a bit closer to an ESB than a Pale. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 19, 2008 4th NC rating in a row. What did this stuff just become available here? Clear amber pour, white head and spotty lace. Malty aroma. Light bodied. Bready flavor with light hop notes BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Sep 19, 2008 Copper pour with a light, fluffy white head. Smell is caramelly malt and a very light citric hop note. Taste is more of the same, with a real bready, nutty malt character. Just a little bit of hop here. More like an ESB than a Pale Ale, but good nonetheless. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy golden amber with a small white head and lace. Nose shows some light hop character, fruit, caramel malt. Nose is good and slightly hoppy with a slight bitterness. Very easy to drink. I’ve had this once before but was a few years ago when I was drinking Stone IPA constantly and felt this to be rather bland compared to the IPA. But its just a different beer. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 18, 2008 Nothing wrong with this one, it’s just a little too simple for my taste. A bit of peach and apple combine with an ever so slight hop bitterness that really isn’t very bitter at all. If that makes sense. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pour was medium golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma was malty with some medium hop character. Flavor was a bit more fresh hops, pine, and malt. Had a smooth mouthfeel and was an easy drink. Good brew.
