dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2008 I’m partial to Stone beers... but this one is by far my favorite pale ale. Probably more of an IPA for most brewers, but stone has a helluva balanced beer with this one. Aroma is mild pine, with some flowery notes. Flavor is a strong malt backbone, and a pure taste of cascade hops. I love Sierra Nevada Pale, and this one is almost like SN, but they did it one better. Oh... pours a beautiful amber- head is disappointingly short lived, but oh well... hard to find for me for some reason, but a winner if you are looking for something with a little less kick than an IPA. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jun 3, 2008 Fantastic pale ale. Had this in San Diego, at the Mariott we were staying at. Would have had a bunch more, but they had Stone IPA too so I had to go with that. knights97 (80), Tennessee, USA Jun 1, 2008 Updated: Jan 1, 2009grabbed a 12 oz bottle, great smooth taste, white head that stays for the duration, smooth and balanced with a hoppy taste, thinner in body than other pale ale’s all, very good. PorterFiend (8), Westland, Michigan, USA does not count May 30, 2008 I’ve had it in the bottle, out of the bottle, and straight from the tap. In all three cases, it’s still my favorite pale ale. I’m not much of a pale ale fan in general, but I love Stone’s smoothness and the not-to-strong citrus streak running through it. This is the pale ale I turn to when I’m just not up for Stone’s IPA. Egon (392), Gothenburg, Sweden May 28, 2008 Bottle. Red copper with white head. Nice mix of malt and hops, some rubber. Citrus. A bit metallic. Medium body. Smooth, creamy mouth feel. Quite short after taste. mattmc1973 (300), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA May 26, 2008 12 oz bottle, pours deep amber with beige foamy head, which mostly dissipated and left mild lacing. Aroma of malt and hops, similar to Arrogant Bastard, but milder. Taste of bitter hops, mouthfeel a bit watery, but smooth. Is a decent pale ale, but not as great as I would have expected, since I’m a fan of Arrogant Bastard/Double Bastard. Just OK. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA May 26, 2008 Pours a nice copper color with beige head. The aroma is a nice combo of hops and bready malt. The flavor is a great balance of the light hop flavor and the full, rich sticky sweet malts. A great pale ale that I will definitely buy again. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2008 Draught at Circa 5/23. Hoppier than a plain old Pale Ale would indicate, but high scores for being delicious.
