COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2014 bready malts with nut aroma, dark amber (orange) color, white head that things but stays throughout drinking, medium bitter taste, more hoppy than expected, medium body, lacing throughout drinking, bitter finish that fades. Not my favorite pale ale but something to serve and drink when only 1 or 2 will do.

I only rate this one low for me because Iím not a huge pale ale fan. Pours a deep Amber red with a light head. Definitely smell the malts before you dive in to this brew. Taste wise is very roasty very toasty. Great caramel flavor with a slight bitterness to cleanse the palate. And a superb smooth finish. Great pale.

I had a comparative tasting with one of my friends who isnít used to craft beer of the Stone Pale Ale vs the Stone IPA, the bottles were from Antenna America. I would have thought the IPA would have been darker but it is a deep gold while the pale ale is an orange copperish hue. The aroma is biscuit with herbal & floral hoppy notes while the IPA has more of a citrus & tropical fruit aroma. Taste wise the pale ale has a simple clean bitter lemon profile with a solid malt backbone. The flavor of the IPA is more complex with different fruits popping through lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach & maybe pine in the aftertaste. The malts are hardly in evidence but it is a solid IPA. One thing to be said is both of these beers were best before the end of November-still damn tasty though. Once they warmed up the IPA became more cohesive with pine notes coming through, meanwhile the pale ale got mellow with more caramel nicely counterbalancing the citrusy hops & making the beer appear less acidic. Definitely a more put together flavor profile once they warm up, strangely enough the beers we liked best changed based on serving temperature. Cold from the fridge the pale ale won out but at a higher temperature the IPA was our preferred drink.

hop aroma and citrus berry scents. Off white head and light amber body. Earthy hops and dry berry flavors dry and crisp on the palate.

(Backlog) 12 oz bottle. Copper colored with a nice beige colored head. Smell is hops, malts, caramel, some citrus. Palate has a medium body easy to drink. Taste has a good balance between the hops and malts and matains a slight sweetness against a hop

12 oz. bottle. Appearance: large white head, great lacing, clear amber to amber-red color, Aroma: citrus, resin, spruce, light bread, caramel, roast. Palate: light-medium body, lively carbonation, sticky texture, bitter finish that lasts. Taste: relatively sweet through out taste that gives way to bitter finish after swallow. Overall very good, very well balanced, very drinkable. A high class beer as always from Stone.

Bottle from Drinkstore. Pours dark with pillowy white head. Head lasts, nice lacing. Grass, caramel, malt aromas. Flavour is moderately sweet caramel, pine resin, lasting herb bitterness in the finish. Medium body, flavour lasts to the finish. Nice beer.
