ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 8, 2008 bready malt character.......nice hop nose...but not so much so on the flavor side.....decent apa.....maybe I am just bored of it since it is everywhere around here? jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Apr 8, 2008 It poured a darker orange-brown with minimal head that dispersed quickly.
The smell of hops was obvious but not strong or overwhelming at all--really got put your nose to it.
Feels slighty bitter and bubbly in the mouth.
The taste in a strong, hoppy one, slightly bitter. You can tell the alcohol is there but not strongly.
Definitely drinkable and would recommend. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2008 Beautiful clear amber/honey color with a tall frothy off-white head. Aroma is fantastic, honey, light fruits, hops, and just an over-riding sweet malty character that’s very pleasing. Very simple but smooth flavor. Has a great light sweetness at first, reminiscent of honeysuckles, combining a sweet and floral hop bouquet nicely. Finish is a little weak and could stand out more. IPAGargoyleGuy (139), Troy, NY, New York, USA Apr 4, 2008 My hopes were high for this one, but it was not the best pale ale I’ve had. I’d like to see more crisp hoppiness. Don’t get me wrong, its a tasty beer, but I guess I just hold Stone to a higher standard. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Apr 1, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. (US) bottle. No noted brewed date or expiration date. This one pours a handsome dark amber with a light off-white head and a decent amount of lacing along the pint glass. Aroma is keen of malts and subtle of hops. A medium texture. Flavor has a subtle mix of hops and malts that I enjoy but it also went down more quickly than I expected. I think I was a bit thirsty and this was most definitely a great thirst quencher. MrStitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a rich orange color with big fluffy white head that leaves good lacing around the glass. Aroma is caramel and lemons. Flavor is sweet and filled with malt which is then nicely cut by by the tangyness of the hops as it hits the back of the mouth. A good solid offering from a brewery that is really doing things right at the moment. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Mar 29, 2008 Oct. 2007 - Pour was amber with decent head and lacing. Flavor was caramel and citrus, not heavy but thick mouthfeel. Nicely hopped for a pale ale and well balanced. A great session beer sickassmick (80), Concord, California, USA Mar 29, 2008 a good solid pale ale... Not a hop monster by any means.. I’ve had the IPA and the ruination IIPA. This one hangs heavier on the malt side, but very fresh and clean tasting. Compared to a sierra nevada pale, this one is much less lively on the carbonation, less hoppy, darker colored... I wouldn’t even guess they were the same style honestly... but this is still a refreshing brew, extremely drinkable... sweet but well balanced. I don’t like how they put the same description on this style’s label about the new brewery machines, telling me to put the beer back in the fridge and all that. one of my favorite brewery’s anyway...gnite!
