dmradus (225), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 5, 2007 Copper orange with small off-white head that fades. Aroma and taste are both very balanced in all aspects. Nose has toffee and caramel notes as well as hints of grapefruit and orange peel. Inviting, flavorful malt character that is accentuated instead of overwhelmed by a floral, citrus hop note. Smooth, nearly creamy mouthfeel with very fine carbonation. Very good’ an understated, balanced, excellently crafted beer - better than the sum of its parts. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Aug 2, 2007 Updated: Feb 13, 2009Bottle: Pours a hazy copper with a small beige head and no real lacing. Nose is light of florals with hints of pine and citrus. Tastes hoppy with florals, light citrus, and a decent malt character. Milder than other stone ales that I’ve tried, but fitting to the style and still a nice brew. bbbrew (171), Washington DC, USA Jul 31, 2007 bottle. minimal head, dark amber pour. well balance of floral and grapefruit hops balanced with abundant malt. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2007 Pours a slightly oranged amber with a nice solid white head. The nose is fragrant with hops, though it certainly doesn’t club you over the head. Perhaps a bit creamy, with a noticeable maltiness. Perhaps even a bit of a dark malt presence, caramel and the like, with some toast. Floral hops, but a bit more refined and not so sharp as cascades. A creamy full mouthfeel, this isn’t watery or too heavy for the style, just right for drinking a few or sipping one nice and slowly. Lightly sweet, with a bit of creaminess over the floral hoppiness. There’s a bit of soapiness to this hop character, perhaps more in line with SNPA. There’s a bit of a toasty dark malt character to this, akin to the SNPA. The lingering hop floral bitterness stays on the tongue for some time hiding a bit of a toasty element. I expected a big brother to the standby SNPA, but instead I got an upgrade on SNPA. endovenoso (4), California, USA does not count Jul 30, 2007 my favorite of the stone family, smooth feel without compromising the strong taste jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 29, 2007 On tap at village pizza in coronado. Nice amber color and very smooth beer. Slight bitter hoppy grapefruit flavors on the back side. Malty smooth experience the rest of the way. Decent pale ale. Perfect with pizza. cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2007 Redish copper body with lighter head. Candy sugar, caramel malts balance a hoppy spiciness in a full bodied tasty example of the style. A little less complex and certainly less hoppy than other beers I’ve had from this brewer, but a very drinkable beer nonetheless. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2007 Rated 7/26/07. Bomber in Las Vegas, NV. Clear reddish copper color. Good carbonation. Rocky off-white head that settles to a patchy, thin film and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma was caramel, toffee, and floral hops. Flavor has a caramel malt backbone with a decent amount of mild hops. Medium body that goes down smooth. Feels like a mix between an amber and a mild IPA. Nice beer, but not outstanding.
