temporrari (327), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 24, 2007 Really bland beer to be honest. Certainly by Stone standards. By mine as well. My local pale is better than this. Gosh it sounds like I hate this beer. I don’t hate it, just not too much to be excited about. It’s a pale. More like an amber tho. Probably a fair amount better on tap, and these bottles are likely not the freshest, so that could be a serious factor. CamdenD (606), Madrid, Spain Jul 24, 2007 Aroma is that of a pale ale, very nice if a bit roasted, appearance is deep and shady for a pale, beautiful, and the taste is more of malt than of hop, quite odd for this Stone drinker who’s used more to the hop bombs coming out of this brewery. Highly understated and well done... mustangjoe (172), redondo beach, California, USA Jul 23, 2007 Poured a nice amber color into the glass. More subdued hops than other Stone brews but still very noticeable in aroma and flavor. Nice malty balance to this one. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Jul 23, 2007 Even their pale ale is hoppy. Doesn’t really seem to fit with the pale ale style. Closer to an IPA. Didn’t really notice as much malty sweetness as others. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jul 22, 2007 Bottle. Big rush of sweet and spicy hops, Cascadey but restrained (more like an ESB) with grapefruit and citrus and some firm caramel malt backing. Amber-orange with a short lacing tan head. Delicious bready caramel taste, earthy and dry through and through, with a wee nip of alcohol and light, non-intrusive bitterness. Faint citrus. Medium body still comes off as light and supports volume drinking, and since this isn’t drenched in hops like most of Stone’s line, the beautiful malt flavor is given time in the limelight. Straightforward and well-crafted, one of the best sessions made in the States. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Jul 22, 2007 Draught at Gingerman NYC. Copper coloured. Medium-sized off-white head. Subdued nutty and somewhat chocolatey aroma. Restrained hops. A bit disappointing hop usage in fact. Thee beer is nicely balanced with a mellow rich maltiness and a hop flavour that hides well behind it. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Jul 21, 2007 Tried on tap at the brewery in one of those tiny taster glasses after going to the tour. The tour is great! 1 finger small bubble head that dies quickly. Light amber color. A little bitter, but well balanced. A great pale ale. psbrewlvr (15), Palm Springs, California, USA Jul 19, 2007 Almost an Amber but great BREW never the less, Perfect hoppiness for me but maybe too big for others, nice malt balance and crisp finish. Another classic brew from Stone
