bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jul 17, 2007 Pours deep amber into the glass, with a nice foamy off-white head that diminishes to a translucent ring with soapy lace. The nose is of sour grains and caramel (almost of hard candies). A sweet caramel malt greets the front palate, well-integrated with toasted grains and hops on the mid- and back-palates. The mouthfeel is smooth, and feels medium-light, although the body is round and robust in character. The finish is nicely dry-hopped to contrast the sweet malt that dominates the beginning and middle of the pull. This doesn’t leave residue on the palate... it has a cleansing component to it, although it contains much more complexity than most "palate cleaners". It hints of amber and red ales (with its sweet maltiness), but finishes like a decent pale ale. Nice job by Stone. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Jul 14, 2007 Updated: Jul 19, 2007right from the spakin’ new brewery this reminds me of the samuel adams of many years ago. though it is less creamy and a touch more hoppy! the beer is refreshing, hoppy and finishes fairly clean (and tasty). the hop notes are floral, citrusy and with a touch of resin. 4 ingredients worked by the best! perfect alcohol content. fruity and very nice! the malt profile actually takes a front seat but great hops just can’t be overlooked. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 14, 2007 copper with a decent tan head. dark nutty caramel aroma with a touch of floral hops. sweet nutty caramel flavor with not quite enough bitter floral hoppy goodness to balance.....uh just too sweet. bittersweet caramel piney finish. not bad just a bit watery. it wants to be medium bodied but is just a bit too watery. lively carbonation. its not horrible......its just kind of a mess. thats the first time i have said that about a stone beer....huh...this beer definitely needs work. gotohelunc (473), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jul 13, 2007 Bottle. Small head on top of a strong brown, like rich Carolina clay mud. The flavor’s malty with unstated hops and a bit of unwanted sour. It does go down very smooth, but the flavor isn’t amazing and it leaves a less than perfect taste in my mouth. It’s a great session beer, but for what I had to pay for a sixer of this on the east coast, there are a lot of beers I’d rather have. Cajun (144), New Iberia, Louisiana, USA Jul 12, 2007 Bottle - Amber pour, white head. One of my favorite styles. Good citrus, hop aroma. Citrusy, fruity, hoppy, malty, good to the last drop-e. I can never get this in my state, but via friends and neighbors or friends of neighbors (Texas) maybe I can get some more of Stone Brewing’s sweet nectars. T3llLAllDE (82), USA Jul 12, 2007 my favorite beer from the stone brew and probably my favorite pale ale that you can get. not overly malty or hopped just right for a perfect ale that could be drank with any food at any time of year. little darker color with a nice foam head that just calls to you as you pour it into your favorite glass. if i had a little bit more money i would probably have a big stock pile of this beer at all times just waiting to be drank. jb (1024), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 7, 2007 A nice beer, great for a swig after mowing the lawn, but may have only got this high of a rating since it is made by Stone. Not much of an aroma, a bit of a fruity aroma. The look is good, heavy brown-orange with a real nice fluffy white head. Decent malty / hoppy palate with the emphasis towards the malty. kevin62 (267), New Jersey, USA Jul 6, 2007 Had this on draft-poured a dark amber with a small white head.Slight floral, malt and hop aroma, which is also reflected in the taste.I was very impressed with this beer as the hops did not dominate or take over the flavor, as sometime Stone does, but it was just right.
