can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Jul 3, 2007 I didn’t get much rich maltiness, it was actually a little watery for what I expected from Stone. It’s somewhat hopy, and very deep in color with a nice big head. Very carbonated, it would be a refreshing beer with lemon on a hot day. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 2, 2007 Sample from 12 ounce bottle at the Mondial, Montreal (May 2007). Kind of surprising that I’ve never tried this before, but oh well....pours a nice dark amber-copper color, lightly hazy, with a smallish lasting head but no lacing to speak of ....slightly funky, floral, strongly hoppy aroma, touched by dogwood and overripe apricots, nice....unfortunately the pleasantries don’t carry through all that well to the palate; it’s watery, very light in character, dry and woody towards the finish and altogether pretty boring....I’m rather surprised; can’t say I’m a huge Stone partisan, but I usually think they’re decent; this is just dull as all getout. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2007 Pours a clear dark amber color with nice amount of froathy white head. Aroma is ctrus and raisins, maltyier than most apas. Flavor is definitely full bodied with perfect balance between malts and hops. Stone definitely knowsn how to make pale ales. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Jun 29, 2007 22 oz bottle. Copper to amber color with nice carbonation and head. The aroma is a bit grassy, with biscuit and fresh grain. Dryish aroma. Flavor has a light metalic hint with grassy notes and just a bit of pine. There is some grain in there, but that’s as far as the grain goes...grain. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jun 24, 2007 Got a 12 oz bottle at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I was shocked to see them offer this beer here, and since I knew that I had not yet rated it, i went for it. They poured me 12 oz bottle into a plastic cup. The color was a deep dark brown with 1/2 inch of light brown foam. The aroma was light hopps and malts. Mouthfeel was slightly fizzy, silky, and very satisfying. Flavors of anise, malt, and fresh baked bread. Finish was dominated by clean hops, but was a bit too short. VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Jun 22, 2007 Pours a Light Amber with a big off-white head. Alcohol and Pine dominant the aroma. Sweet malts at first that finish bitter and slightly thin. Good Pale IPA. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA Jun 20, 2007 Updated: Jul 7, 2007Very enjoyable. Had it on tap at Petco Park. Very nice deep color, with great lacing, good head. Tastes of almost a toasted malt flavor, with a strong hop backbone to back it up. Great APA blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jun 19, 2007 Stone Tasting at the Brick: Redish brown pale ale. A lot hoppier then I expect from most APAs.
