3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber with a medium white head that stays throughout the beer. Aroma is caramel, some citrus, biscuity notes. Flavor is caramel malt, some butteryness, ending is dominated by citrus with a bit of an odd metallic taste, although it’s not that strong. Finish is fairly short, in a lot of ways is similar to the IPA, but a little weaker but with an added biscuit-like flavor.

An awesome pale ale with all the hops you’d expect from Stone. Pours darker than your average pale ale. Tasted a bit "green" to me. Grassy and lightly fruity. For me, it makes a decent chugger.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Best pale ale I’ve had. Great rich amber color, with a thick rocky head. A sweet malty taste with hints of honey or caramel. Strong hop finish that lingers. Great compliment to a fish taco. Will drink again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2011 Aroma is primarily malty with some nice citrusy notes from the hops. Pours an orange/amber color with a nice white foam head. Taste is caramel up front with some a solid hop finish creeping up shortly after. Nice body to this one. An awesome pale ale, amazingly sessionable. One of the best out there.

Blah. I am content with the Stone IPA, so figured I would give it a chance. Completely lost my interest because of the bland taste...watery.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Aroma was a great malty smell with a hint of hops. No head at all. The tasted was really clean and easy. A great amount of hops, malt and yeast all balanced well. It was smooth and light on the palate. Would suggest.

Welcome to NC Stone Brewing Co.! While pale ales are not my preferred beer of choice, I do have to admit as they go, this is a good one. The pour is a nice copper, with a decent white head. The nose is well balanced with hops, malt and even a hint of sugars. The taste is equally well balanced, refreshing and leaves a nice lemon aftertaste, but is not nearly as hopped as some of their other ales. Worth trying and is a winner for its style.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2009 12 oz bottle I found this offering from Stone to be pretty average in comparison to their other ales. It’s certainly better that most pale ales, but that said, it is a far cry from Ruination, Arrogant and Double Bastard. Or smoked porter. Just sayin.

SD trip, sampler: Amber to copper pale ale with piney and citrus notes. This may have seemed less flavorful due to the Sublimely I was having at the time.

This is my most fav. beer in the world.....hence the perfect 5.Great white (not shark) head not to foamy not too flat. The aroma has a prickly hoppy fruity flavor which matches its overall flavor. Not too tart but a slight fruity similar too a Bass but much more. Big backbone on malty flavor very smooth thouout the tastbud transfusion and the aftertaste goes on and on...no skunkyness
