The beer pours a deep red amber with a light white head. The nose is a light mix of malts and hops the taste is slightly hoppy and dry with a short finish

At the brewery. Dark amber with small head. Has a sting bitterness for a pale ale. A slight honey flavor.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours a rich amber with a slight white head leaving some nice lacing. Smell is rich malty goodness with hints of caramel and subtle citrus notes. Carbonation is mild and it's fairly light bodied. Taste is very malt forward. Rich toffee notes with a slight citrus backing make for a delightful pale!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 26, 2005 Darker in color than most pale ales...but the flavor is not as robust to match. Lots of sweetness in this one with a hoppy finish. Nutty taste. Feels kind of "light" for a Stone brew. Would rather be drinking thier IPA and I even prefer the quiet complexity of their Levitation Ale to this.

Blah. I am content with the Stone IPA, so figured I would give it a chance. Completely lost my interest because of the bland taste...watery.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 12 oz. bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop. Good for those who may not be ready for a full blown IPA. A subtle but distinct pine hops presence against a solid malt base provides a bold, crisp flavor. The end is bitter and dry but not nearly as bitter as an IPA. Aftertaste is the residual bitterness and the bread of the malt. Well crafted and very drinkable.

After reading this beer's ratings I was excited to try it. It was a decent pale ale, but I wonder if I got a bad bottle... it didn't do much more for me than other pale ales.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 ml bottle. Pours a nice clear amber with a dense off-white head. Modest piney nose with a malty background. Medium body with a sharp hop bite against a sold malt base. Nice lingering balance of malt and hops.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep red, not pale at all really, with a fluffy white head. Aroma is candy, some sweet malts, hints of roast. Taste is subtle, lots of rich malt backed up by a reasonably aggressive bitterness. Some candy lingering, but the main impression is made by the hops. Not very pale, perhaps a bit bitter for the style, but damn nice.
