COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

Bottle. Poured a darker copper color with a finger high off white head. Smells floral and a little earthy. Iím surprised how tame this IPA is for a product of Stone Brewing. The hop flavor is there but isnít overpowering, and finishes smooth. I like Ruination or their IPA better than this, but this is very drinkable. Also has a sweet smell to it.

Flaska från Bishop Arms i Lund. Trevlig american pale ale från Stone. Balanserad men hade väntat mig lite mer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Light amber color and makes a medium white head. Smell has a slightly roasted malt characteristic, but not too exciting. Flavor is interesting.. it opens up spicy and sweet, roasted, nutty and has a nice bitter hop finish. Mouthfeel is a solid medium, has a slightly sticky syrup aspect that sticks to the mouth and throat as it goes down. I like it, its a good session beer.

Bottle. Blind buy. Smells like a pale ale, looks like an amber. Itís a little more bitter than Iíd like, but the aroma keeps talking to me in the glass, and it leaves me with a mixed impression that starts out rough but ends up mostly good.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy amber color. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of hops and sweet malts. A pretty good pale ale.

This beer had a funky smell to it. I could not detect a lot of hoppy aroma. The appearance was great-nice golden color aith creamy white head. The flavor was that of a typical pale ale, good hops and carbonation. Very refreshing on a hot day.

a decent stone brew, nothing world beating but another solid sessionable one from them.

Iíve always thought of APAs as the Ale equivalent to amber lagers: just middle-of-the-road, non-inventive, stylistically inflexible beers. If youíve had one APA, youíve had them all. The orange-y start, the generic hops tone, the entirely indistinguishable malt finish. Just about the most neutral, safe pale ale one can seek. This one delivers in all categories. Fully undistinctive, pleasant but not memorable, and leaving not a single quality in the afterglow worth mentioning. Not a bad beer by any account. Instead, this is just a decent beer, and the thought of wasting any time describing the nose (none worthy of mention), the lacing (none), the downtake (same as any other of this kind), the aftertaste (same again)...you get the idea. Ballastís Yellowtail is about as popular on tap around here as this, and that one is a mystery to me. Maybe the guys at Stone should step up to the plate and make this one a little more distinctive and a little less generic. The local brewers around here hang their collective hats on their IPAs, as they should, since each SD brewer brings a personal touch to the IPAs they offer. This...this is just Stone Pale Ale, and I can walk around the corner right now and see a homeless dude drinking it outside the corner store. Seriously. Once again, a good beer. Once again, no better than any of the other starter "good beers", like Fat Tire or Yuengling Lager, or any other world of other middling slighty hoppy ales.

1/21/09 lager glass. thick amber color with thick, white frothy head, although disipated quickly, but left a great lace. subtle hop aroma, but you know they are there. light bodied. goes down smooth. very nice balance of hops and malt. just the right amount on both! very smooth and tasty!
