Copper color with a nice size head. Excellent balanced hop - malt aroma. Big initial hop flavor followed by a nice smooth malt flavor. This beer is toned down for a Stone beer, but very good nonetheless. Medium body.

Tasted during trip to california. 65 cl Bottle. Light amber colour with a biege head. Light aroma of malt and fruitness. Great flavour that ends little dry. A nice easy drinking beer.

Re-Rate 08/06/02: ’What the hell, been 7 months since I had a ’Stone Pale Ale’, been concentrating to Frigging Hard’ on this 5000th beer crap. Well, I’m going to fix that ’Rat Now’. Pours a deep amber to copper color, the head is generous, creamy and biege, the lace by the tons. Nose is a nice deep sweet malt, hints of caramel, and the little ’Hop Flowers’, I love so much. Front is malt sweet, top is medium, the finish is ’Hop Heaven’, dry, acidic, and still ranks as one of my top two pale ales. Ranks #206 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Rich amber brew. Medium caramel malt and bitter, yet honeyed, hop nose and flavor. Rather underpowered compared to the typical Stone brew, making this brew rather ordinary and non-descript. Some decent qualities, easy bitterness with some citrus and balanced malting, but rather forgettable on the whole.

Pours an almost clear brown. The aroma is orange and pepper from the hops. This has a fuller malt than the Levitation, but the Levitation is clearly the beter beer.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, tupalev & jerc - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Colour of orange pekoe tea with a moderate off-white head. Aroma holds a mellow, pleasant hoppiness - a little soapy, but not in a bad way. Flavour has a great malt-hop balance, with a slightly earthy taste and a nice bitterness that sneaks up on you as the beer warms. Again, a fine US ale that would be an instant session beer for me if the lunkheads at the LCBO actually started carrying it...

(10/31/08) Draught at Lucky Devils in Hollywood. Slightly hazy amber color with a medium stable off-white head. Nice floral hoppy aroma with some citrus and a bit of malt. Sweetish malty flavor at first with some caramel and bready notes and later turns to pleasant moderate hoppy bitterness. Rounded-bodied.

Clear amber/orange beer with a creamy light tan head. Sweet caramelly aroma with milk chocolate and fruit tones. Very nice balanced and very delicious. Flavor starts sweet caramelly and ends with a bitter hoppyness. Notes of raisins and chocolate. Soft and tasty and another excellent beer from a world class brewery!
