Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

A: The beer pours a light amber color with a finger of two of white head and some nice lacing. S: Nowhere near as hoppy as many of the other Stone beers, but that probably works out for the best. It’s still got a nice citrus and floral hop character along with a bit of pine. A fair amount of toasted and caramel malts providing sweetness. T: The flavor is lightly sweet with a lot of bread and toast, a bit caramel forward, too. Citrus hops with a light pine bitterness and some floral character lightens things up. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. O: Not an overly aggressive pale, but a good, solid pale ale.

Nice medium aroma of hop and malt. More than many APAs. Light copper color with a transient white head. The remains laced a bit. Starts with malt, somewhat balanced by hop. A bit musty, woody. The finish is a bit malty for my taste. Good drink though.

Bottle. [thanks to my good friend Øster for sending this from California]
It pours a light hazy orange-amber. Head is quite large, a bit yellowish, quite bubbly (small bubbles). Aroma is very flowery hoppy, but still well-rounded. There is a good dose of caramel in the background as well. Rather low carbonated. Flavour is mild, extremely well hopped. Balance between mouthfeel, hops and caramel sweetness is absolutely stunning. Not that dry at the end as I’d suspect, but this is the session beer of choice if ever I live in Escondido :o) Insanely drinkable and very low in alcohol - great! I want more

12 oz bottle -pours a retaining foamy light tan head and amber color. Aroma is mild citrus hops, medium malt-sweet. Taste is mild citrus hops, medium malt-sweet. Nothing objectionable, just a sessionable beer. OK/mild carbonation.

Tap. Deep amber color with medium white head. Great aroma of complex hops and sweet. Flavor was full and the finish was long and pleasent. I will be seeking out more of Stone brews.

Bottled, 355ml from Burg Bieren, Ermelo, Netherlands. Brownish amber with off white head. Finally got to try the original and although there is a soft, tropical fruity hoppiness the thing that really strikes is the malty sweetness, way above what I was expecting. Almost candy like, the hops try to cut through but they are a little masked. A little disappointed really.
