Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

Nice lacing. The aroma has a pasta type smell to it. Deep amber color. Typical Stone hoppy. Solid sweet malt undertones. A little acity on the palate. Sociable, a good lead in to other beers. Good, but I had better pale ales.

Great aroma--the West Coast hopping is muted into a pleasant fruit-juice like fusion on top of maltiness that anticipates a balanced bitterness. The flavors are less exciting, even ending bland, with a basic palate, some lingering astringency and bitterness. Golden amber color. Ho-hum, and a candidate for "over-rated" in my opinion.

A nice, slightly hazy, copper color. Pours with a dense white head. Not as aromatic as I was hoping. There is a nice bitterness up front, as I take my first sip, it is accompanied by some biscuit - malty notes. There seems to be a lot of complexity missing here. A straight forward pale ale with not real defining characteristics. It is not balanced enough to work on a subtle level. It is certainly bitter, fairly clean flavors (light fruit, malt and some hoppy flavor contributions). Seems to be missing that certain Stone 'pizzazz'. Overall a decent beer, but I was hoping for something with a bit more definition. I need to see if I can get a known fresh bottle of this, to see if perhaps this is just past it's prime.

Bottle, at the Freakin Frog. Ok nose, caramel, citrus, floral. Clean reddish copper color. Small to no head. Bitter sweet flavors, same as aroma, but more pronounced. Thinner body, little creaminess. Bitter dryish finish. Tasty pale ale. Traditional though. Nice to try since it doesn’t make it to Boston.

A hazy amber beer with an OK head. The aroma is hoppy sweet and the flavor is dry malty with notes of aroma hops and caramel.

Metallic red-orange pour, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of orange zest, mint leaves, crystal malt. Tastes similar to a British style IPA: sourdough, fluoride, some citrus and a dry sesame seed finish. Note of pepper just before the end. Somewhat abrasive palate, and very vaguely unpleasant though generally nice enough. Thanks Jason!

Deep amber colour with a pretty heavy haze. Hop character is pretty moderate for Stone, lightly floral. Body is fairly full, nice malt, but the flavour really lacks depth, the hops are very forward and short lived, the malt only comes in at the end, there’s noting in the middle.

Pour was a mix of gold and copper that was nice and clear with a deep white head. Slowly receding foam left a solid web of lacing in the glass. The aroma was sweet sugary malt, mild citrus and some floral hoppiness. The flavor was mostly sweet malts with some citrus and floral hops struggling to break through. Nice mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
