Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

On tap at Winking Lizard Crosswoods. Clear red/copper pour with a medium beige head. English malt nose with earthy hops. Bitter earthy hop flavor with an English malt backbone. Not bad for an English pale.

Amber with a good fluffy head and prickly carbonation. Aroma is citrus and some floral hops, not strong but decent. Caramel malty flavor, a little bit woody, floral with a citrus hop bite. Very well balanced.

12 oz. bottle, pours brownish amber with a tiny head. Aroma of balanced caramel malt and hops. Flavour is a nice balance of the same, with a more pronounced hop flavour and citrus. Pretty standard but nice.

Bottle. Pours clear amber, medium off-white head, not terribly persistent, spotty lacing. Nose is caramel/burnt sugar, light grapefruit hops, some slight pine. Flavours are much richer than the nose would suggest; big caramel and grapefruit, some spicy spruce notes, unfortunately, also quite metallic. Not the equal of either their Amber or their IPA. Probably the worst Stone beer Iíve had to date.

Pours amber with a big off-white head. Flavor is old pine hops, biscuit, grass, some citrus. I might be biased because this is a starter beer, or this was an old bottle, but this doesnít live up to some other Stone beers Iíve had.

12oz. bottle poured at home. Pours a clear reddish amber. Decent white head. Some light caramel on the nose, malty with just the faintest of fruit notes. Reasonably smooth mouthfeel, but with lively carbonation. Herbal and sharp, but a mellow aftertaste just about balances it out. Not bad.

Rich amber brew. Medium caramel malt and bitter, yet honeyed, hop nose and flavor. Rather underpowered compared to the typical Stone brew, making this brew rather ordinary and non-descript. Some decent qualities, easy bitterness with some citrus and balanced malting, but rather forgettable on the whole.

Clean, but needs a little more hops to refresh me. A mild ale with more malt than hops, really rich in the maltiness as it says. Stone makes great beer, duh, but this isnít the variety for me.

A hazy brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is light, but has some citrus and grassy hops. The flavor has a strong malt character with quite a bit of bitterness. I miss some of the nicer hops flavors here, it just seems to be simple and bitter.
