COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

An aromatic and malty amber ale that might have been refreshing if it hadnít coated your tongue with hairy hop resin. Harsh and sticky. My palate needs a shave. Interesting, I guess. Sweet and bitter beer that lacks subtlety.

Typical Stone product but less "oomph" to it. Pale golden color with frothy white head. Amazing aroma of hops typical of Stone. Lighter taste that lends it drinkability compared to other Stone brews. Basically, a "lighter" version of their IPA, and thus not as good.

Bottle pours amber with off white 2 finger head. Aroma is mild roast, caramel, and a slightly grassy hop profile. Taste is toffee with a resiny and spruce-y hop profile. Body is medium and oily with average carbonation and a dry bitter finish. Overall, this is a solid beer but not nearly as exciting as other offerings Iíve had from Stone. Middle of the road as compared to the other great pale ales I have sampled in the past few weeks. Whatís really odd is that Iíve really enjoyed this beer in the past but it somehow tastes different (inferior) than it did last year.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a thick head. Fairly dull aroma of toasted malt. The flavor is also quite malty - and a little bit soapy - with a hint of citrus hops on the finish. Seems out of balance - not one of Stoneís better beers.

Amber orange pour with a fingers worth of white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts up front with underlying citrus and earthy hops. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel maltiness with bitter hops coming through in the end. I honestly donít think Iíve ever had this, but Iím kind of disappointed by it. Maybe itís expired?

Bottle at Patricks. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, hop, butterscotsch, fruit. Flavour is the same. OK beer.

Pours a dark amber color, with a big offwhite head that quickly disappears and leaves lacing. Aroma of caramel and fruits. Sweet taste of caramel, not as fruity/hoppy as in the nose. Good beer, considering the meager abv.

Balanced beer. Liked better than the ipa. Stone seems to be a hop happy brewery and this one is not as strong.

Pours dark orange, almost amber with an off white head. Good bit of malt up front on the nose, light grapefruit and citrus bitterness, almost bready. Reminds me of an amber to be honest, perhaps this is an old bottle. Little bit more of a citrus hop bitterness up front on the taste but still not too hoppy and very malt heavy. Kind of disappointed, Iíve had this before and it was fantastic. Iíll edit this review if I get around to trying it again.

I came up short on this, not disastrously short but just enough. The malts and caramel seem to front end this and there is a long bitter finish that might surprise, or disappoint. Also thought the aroma was mostly yeasty dough. I may have gone into this thinking it was a more, i found it to be a less
