COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness.

Top of the pale ales. Obviously made with care to a balancing of flavor and aroma.

How this rating eluded me for so many years I will never know. Clear amber dark copper pour with thin soapy near white head. Smells old metallic and malty, slightly sweet. Hoppiness comes on the flavor with a floral bitter earthiness. Maybe it will be better fresh, but this is pretty uninspiring.

ARH (563) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2014
On tap, poured into a shaker. Mild caramel and citrus aromas come through with some grass character. The beer is a copper, oily color with an off-white, soapy head retaining a medium ring and leaving a light, speckled lace. The taste is a medium-high bitter and a medium sweet. It’s waxy with a fuzzy carbonation. The medium body has flavors of caramel and citrus with a resin bitter finish. A chalky and waxy aftertaste lingers and ends with a clean, dry pine touch.

Poured from a 20oz bottle. Dark amber color with a lot of head. The active carbonation provides consistent head and a flurry of bubbles that dance their way to the top. The first sip brings flavors of malt and a bite that lasts as it has a fairly bitter finish.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2014 This is the only year round Stone release I’ve never tried because I never seen one fresh where I shop in MN until today. Light hops, light bitterness, good malts, easy to drink. Solid but not my favorite pale ale.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Aroma was a great malty smell with a hint of hops. No head at all. The tasted was really clean and easy. A great amount of hops, malt and yeast all balanced well. It was smooth and light on the palate. Would suggest.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 12 oz. bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop. Good for those who may not be ready for a full blown IPA. A subtle but distinct pine hops presence against a solid malt base provides a bold, crisp flavor. The end is bitter and dry but not nearly as bitter as an IPA. Aftertaste is the residual bitterness and the bread of the malt. Well crafted and very drinkable.

Had on tap at Stone Liberty Station in San Diego. Pours a rich bet with a thin white head. Aroma is toffee. Very dry clean finish. Really nice but not really a pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at jacks cannery in San fran. Dark Orange with white head. Citrus and malty aroma. Malty hoppy earthy and toasty taste. Bitter finish. Enjoyable
