1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle courtesy of maniac, alongside Crime provided by obguthr in an impressive display of beer tasting coordination. Aroma is eye-watering peppers. Taste is way too hot for me, and I ate kimchi in Korea.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A: The beer pours an ominous murky amber color with a barely-there ring of tan foam.
S: You can smell the peppers before the glass even gets near your face. The heat is quite intense and the pepper smell is very, very green and fresh. I can’t really even smell anything else, actually.
T: It starts off hot with a lot of chile flavor. There’s a bit of chocolate and oak that come through, but before you can enjoy them, the intense heat comes back and sits on your tongue for quite some time.
M: The body is medium and the carbonation is on the low end of medium. And the heat burns the back of your throat a bit.
D: This was pretty tough to drink. I would say even if you’re a big chile beer fan this would be painful.

0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
500mL bottle, pours a deep dark orangey brown with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out spicy peppers and vomit. Flavour is absolutely vile, with intense spicy peppers and vomit. An absolute atrocity. Drain pour.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours murky dark copper with a creamy beige head. Aroma is mostly chili. Full bodied or better. Flavor: A real hot chili hit. Yeah, some dark malt too. But it’s really hot. I can see why Greg donated the chilies. More than he personally needed! And that is all she wrote. I’m not gonna get much else other than a bare hint of bourbon. Whoosh! I think I’ll survive.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Poured hazy orange copper color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with good to excellent lacing. Aroma was a heavy roasted peppers, strong dark alcohol aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Heavy complex toasted roasted peppers and dark smooth flavor and a heavy complex dark finish of long duration. This is a complex standout beer.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Caged and corked bottle. Umm, yeah, Punishment is a good name for this. I still see bottles on shelves for close to $40 ... why! Just a burn and peppery mess.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sample at Kurtkeller 018: Tequila-aged and Let’s Agree to Ruin Our Evening with Pepper beers-tastic 01 on 11/04/2014. Murky copper color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Habanero peppers and malt in the nose. Full-bodied with a strong hot pepper character that dominates the malt and oak behind it. The finish is peppery with a lingering chili burn. I couldn’t get on board with either of these beers, as with Crime this is too over the top.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle. Hot sauce beer is what this is, very peppery and fruity flavor up form, medium to high burn in the backend. Finally beer with actual heat.
