Subtile unsweetened coconut. A bit of tropical fruit hops. Better in theory. Finish tastes like licking the outside of a coconut. Not as good as i was expecting.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a translucent new penny copper color with a small white head that recedes to a film. The aroma is soft and mild with a light citrus scent. The taste is decent bitter grapefruit hops set in a neutral malt base. I don’t get much in the way of coconut, it must be very subtle. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. The finish is long and dry with lingering grapefruit. Overall: A decent summer IPA, loved it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by a coworker. Pours a golden to yellow with white head. Aroma is more tropical and bitter than any coconut. Really none until this one warms significantly. Taste is again bitter and resinous with some bitter unripe tropical fruit. The coconut is not there at all when it is cold. As it warms you get a roasted coconut like mounds bar thing going on. Nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bomber, ENJOY BY 10/23/13, from Olive Tree Market in OB, $6.49. Clear orange amber with a one finger off-white head, not the best retention (due to the coconut oils? or did they do something to remedy this?). First cracking the bottle and taking a whiff I got no coconut, but rather some fruity New Zealand or Australian dry hops going on. In my glass I get the same hops--tropical fruit--but a definite lightly sweet coconut note that so far blends well with the hops of choice. The flavor, however, is quite bitter right off the bat, and even to the point of being a bit danky, which I usually like, but the bitterness is really huge and detracting here. I’m no longer getting any coconut due to the overpowering bitterness, but there is a little bit of tropical fruit hops left. Just ridiculously bitter, which becomes the flavor of the beer. Dry finish with bitterness peaking too damn high to be enjoyable for a whiny guy like me. Moderate carbonation with a medium body. The aroma is nice, but, you know how I feel at this point.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear orange color, moderate sized white head with decent lacing and retention. Citrus aroma with some butterscotch and very light coconut. Medium bodied, somewhat sweet, light nut and caramel flavors. I won’t lie, I thought this was a dumb concept, but the end result is just a bland IPA with a very light coconut flavor. Not what I guessed it would taste like (coconut is very light) but I guess I’m just a sucker that wants a good IIPA or IPA instead of getting creative. If it aint broke don’t fix it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2013 Aroma is immediate fruity hops with a resignating mango/pineapple and metallic coconut on the nose. It is a light copper color with some nice lacing on the glass. Extremely fruity flavors with mango, orange, pineapple and strong hop bitterness on the palate. Finish leaves a herby hop taste. Overall, it is pleasantly hoppy and fruity but the coconut flavor is not as prominent as I had expected. It comes through more on the aroma but more in a metallic form. Nevertheless, a pleasantly tropical IPA. Great for summer.
EDIT: Poured this into a tulip shaped glass and it made a world of difference. The coconut is much more present and it is extremely refreshing and tropical. Delicious.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from the bottle. The best part about the beer is the appearance. It pours golden yellow with a perfect about of head. Aroma has a very slight hint of coconut, but not much. Taste also has a hint of coconut and a ton of bitterness. It’s just a harsh IPA, which I’m not a fan of.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
22 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a medium bubbly white head that quickly goes to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet bready malts, some ripe tropical fruit (with light coconut) and floral hops with a bit of stink.
The flavor is sweet malts with a kind of chemical coconut flavor and bitter grassy hops that taste a bit charred in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with creamy carbonation.
Overall, an interesting experiment but doesn’t work for me. The coconut tastes fake and the doesn’t work with the grassy floral hops. I much prefer their coffee IPA.

Everything is buried under an avalanche of coconut. IPA? Maybe. Underneath the coconut somewhere. If you like mounds candy bars then you would like this, but a pint is too much.
