COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
RUINING PALATES SINCE 2002
In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is ďA Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,Ē then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2014 On tap @ Urban Family Public House. Pours medium pale copper with minimal head. Aroma is big pine hops. Taste is more of the same: sticky grapefruit hops, thick caramel body, bitter piney finish. I remember my first Ruination and how it was bigger than anything Iíd had before. At 7.7%, that was lost in the fray over the past few years. Love to see Stone step up and show everyone that they can do a DIPA better than anyone else. What would it take for this to become a permanent fixture in the lineup? Revisiting 2014 version, 2 years later to the day... Amazing rich sweet malt aroma with huge citrus, floral, and pine hop notes. Taste as originally noted above remains true. Extremely rich, but so well balanced that it tastes well below the 10.8%. Donít believe Iíve had a DIPA any better than this - the gold standard. THANK YOU STONE FOR LISTENING AND MAKING THIS AN ANNUAL RELEASE! :)

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear golden/amber body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of mango, pine, grapefruit, orange, menthol and honey. Flavour of honeyed malts, pine, orange and resin. Bitter, spicy finish. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Very easy drinking for the strength.

Excellent beer. Copper color, strong sweet and hippy aroma. Sweet at first, then bitter finish that lingers. Not a lot of carbonation.

Pours vibrant amber, fading head. Nose shows lashings of clean malt alongside resinous and piny hops. Similar falvours. Cloyingly malty with some spicy, piny and resinous hops.

Bottle. Rather dark amber colour with a large white. Dense aroma with caramel, grass, herbal, fruitiness. The flavour is sweet, toffee, with resinous and oily character, extreme hopping, very bitter. A strong body and overall a highly enjoyable beer.

Bitter and citric with a strong and sweet malt backbone. Not the most interesting Stone beer if you ask me.

Poured into a teku showing cloudy orange amber with moderate filtration and a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of pineapple, cannabis, and pine with a hefty malty background. The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Flavors of sweet malt and very light pineapple. The finish shows the distinct cutting IPA bitterness. Lightens up on the linger to showcase more of the malts and slightly fruitier flavors.

Pours a clear golden amber with a small white frothy head. Aroma is caramel, grass and tropical fruits. Taste is caramel, ripe pineapple, pine and very slight biscuit malt with a nice lingering hop bitterness. Well balanced with some big flavours.

Lovely shimmering amber color and a big fluffy head. Bright hop nose but faint. Massive body: malt, alcohol and then a hop wallop. Bam. Tingly bitter in the sides of the mouth after the swallow. Hops gallore. It is a palate ruiner.

Nice deep Amber color with a beautiful frothy head! Nice fresh cut gras aroma. Intense hoppy bitterness accompanied by some malty traces. Clinging to the tooth of the mouth. Nicely balanced

For all the machismo about this beer, itís actually the subtlety that nails it. For a start, itís better as it warms - the flavours then blend together a lot better and the volume is turned up for both aroma and taste. The heavy elements then combine well - the hops prove orange marmalade; the malt gives a robust caramel base; the alcohol provides a kick towards the end, and then the hops return to provide the bitterness. If you take your time with it then it really rewards you with a peppery finish and smooth power throughout. Aroma is mostly piney and not as big as I expected. Typical IPA colour with little head. Thick, oily body.
