RUINING PALATES SINCE 2002 n June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is ďA Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,Ē then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

On tap at Beer Authority. Orange gold pour. Rich orange rind and pineapple flavor. Great perfume and citrus sting that lingers for quite a while. Moderate body. Delicious.

Bottle: Enjoyed fresh. Thanks, Kevin! Burnt, stoplight amber color with sharp clarity; thin-bubbled, creamy, off-white cap grows thick & settles slowly, leaving nice lacing behind. Aroma is largely citric hops, tropical undertones, grapefruit, pineapple, white-pepper covered citrus peels, dank hops, florals, & light herbaceous notes. As soon as this warms up (even a little) the malt presence grows exponentially, introducing heavily sweet & sticky notes of caramel, toffee, & unattenuated sugar. The taste follows the same logic... The first five or six sips are nice; largely hoppy, bitter citrus, candied grapefruit peels, orange zest, dank & wet hops, lupulin oil... Then the sweetness builds up like a train out of control. Caramel & toffee is in great abundance with a huge, sticky, residual sweetness thatís just really off-putting in a DIPA. Finish of abrasively sweet malts & leftover hop resin. The first few sips had promise, but this one is just too sweet for me. Much prefer Ruination.

Pours amber to copper with one finger of off white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is lots of pine and grapefruit with some sweet maltiness. Flavor is pretty bitter yet not harsh. Well balanced with the malty sweetness. Medium bodied. Some alcohol burn. Finishes pretty dry. Nice beer.

on tap at the berlinerbierfest 2013 at the very popular american stall. hazy amber with a lingering white head; loads of grapefruit and pine in the aroma; ridiculously bitter after trying a few german pilses and helleses; plenty of grapefruit and caramel brittle; finishes clean. well made but not exactly my thing

Resin hop aroma with a sweet pine smell. Strong sweet beginning thatís gets moderately bitter quickly. Bitter lasts until the finish then gets a sharp finish.

Hoppy and wonderful. Thirst quincher extraordinaire, I love a good hoppy DIPA and this fits the bill,

I donít know what else I can say about a Stone DIPA that I havenít already written. I would actually love to have a flight of the Stone DIPA varieties and actually see if there is any difference. All are wonderful examples of big West Coast hoppy ales.

Cask Third of a Pint at GBBF 2013, Olympia, London Aug 2013 - Deep Amber Gold in colour. Very Very Hoppy; intense, dank, resinous piney hops. Very Fruity; orange, grapefruit and lemon citrus, tropical fruit, pineapple. Spicy. Malty backbone; biscuity malts, caramel. Very bitter hoppy fruity throughout leading to a long bitter finish. Full-bodied but dry. Enjoyed this a lot. Terrific Imperial IPA!

Nice malty caramel scent. Flavor is very citrus with a lot of hop bitterness. Nice additions to already great ruination ipa.

2013-11-29. Lightly hazy bright orange body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma of green hops, tea like notes, caramel. Flavour is fairly bitter, resinous hops over sweetish caramel malt. Lingering bitterness. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Solid. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Aromas of Tropical citrus, vanilla pine and an overwhelming smell on the hops. Pours a good clean copper with a good head. Starts of a tiny bit sweet with hints of oak and vanilla before the hops and bitterness take over a slight citrus after taste. Goes well w/ rum cake
