In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

Keg, Brewdog Leicester. Golden brown with an off white thin head. Toffee with orange rind and nutty marzipan alcohol. Underlying tropical fruit with pineapple in particular. Woody with bitter piney notes. Spicy with vanilla oak barrel character and floral yeastiness. Warming alcohol but quite smooth. Very good.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry. Deep reddish orange in the glass, large head. Strong aromas of sweet tropical fruits, slight pine, orange, alcoholic touch. Taste is a massive punch of tropical fruits, honey, pithy grapefruit, some orange, burnt caramel. Dry finish with a slight alcoholic burn. Brilliant full mouthfeel, this tastes fairly strong but not 10.8%. Delicious.

Bottle. Copper orange color with a moderate sandy head... Lots of sheet lacing. Nose is thick with citrus and floral hops, sweet overall. Tastes rich and syrup like with loads of citrus, tropical fruit, and floral. Retains a nice sweetness with the bombardment of hops, probably why I’m thinking syrup. Loving this... very drinkable.

Pours a clear amber color with an off white head. Aroma is loaded with citrus hops and some oak. Pine, a little booze and some earthiness fill in the space. Bubbly palate. Flavor is of hops, malts, booze, and more hops. Still really hot right now. Maybe aged another 6 months would smooth it out. Still some good stuff though. Leaves a citrusy hop finish. Fresh weeds here folks.

Tap at mellow mushroom new Albany. Great pour and perfect color. Thick whitish head that lingers a bit. Nose is fruit sweet and hop. Dry hop attack with a bit oversweet sugary burst that limits how good it is. Aggressive and strong but floral notes, hop bite, and sugar covers it up. Would do again but not top 5.

650mL bottle from Slowbeer. 2015 vintage Pours a hazy copper body, holds a dense creamy cm of off-white head. Hops literally explode from the glass - candied lemon peel, orange sherbert, pine sap, ginger root, cinnamon stick (somehow!?), resiny leaf, dried herbs, with rich pale caramels and biscuity malts. Palate is properly resiny, sticky, just clings on, warming i’ll admit but so smooth and tantalising. There’s just so much to enjoy here, time to get whimsical - candied orange, fresh ginger, green grass freshly mowed, hewn pine, with a firm bitterness, not so much aggressive but in balance with the big caramel, biscuit malts in support. There’s a warmth a booze emanating through the palate, that goes almost unnoticed until you finish inevitably finish this amazing brew. Yeah, this is pretty damn good!

Bottle, thnx to Secret Summer Santa. Pours a clear orange beer with a minimal amount of white head head. Aroma of great West Coast goodness, loads of citrus, big malts, caramel. Hoppy presences, citrus, grassy. Flavour is bitter, juicy, loads of bitter hops. Cookies and malts in the aftertaste, dry finish and low carbonation. Very nice.
