Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jun 25, 2009 Sample Draft at a Stone tasting. Cloudy orange pour, nice hoppy aroma. Outstanding flavor, caramel sweetness upfront with a wonderful bitter finish. Outstanding. caswayno (4), USA does not count Jun 24, 2009 great ipa but 18 bucks for 6 pack you cant drink it everyday. I made a clone of this beer and it cut the cost in half. baraciisch (138), USA Jun 24, 2009 Yellow orange in color... Citrusy hops aroma... Flavor is initially bitter which lingers long after sipping it... Hops overload... More watery initially but palate is incredibly bitter which makes each consecutive sip less bitter.... Great beer curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 23, 2009 Pours clear amber with a frothy white head with constant aroma release keeping the head around for the entire beer. Delicious orange and tangerine aroma, pine resin and honeysuckle. Perfect balance between thick malt and sweet but brutally bitter hops. Taste is mostly orange rind and pine. This is a masterpiece of beer and one of the best I’ve ever had. Nothing is flawed. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 22, 2009 Light hazy amber / orange in colour, so-so off-white cap (could be creamier), some spotty lacing. The aroma is soft all around but still thick. Lots of sweet malts - more than I expected. Some pine, the usual candy citrus (softer than the norm). I think I Need another one for review as I cannot nail the aroma down well enough. The hops (leafy, hot, pine, spicy, some grapefruit) are not super overpowering but are still very harsh (I like!!!). Bready malts. A decent blend of flavours but seems muted somehow. Full bodied, smooth all the way through, some mild alcohol bite, fading piney bitter finish. direwolf9 (29), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 21, 2009 Once again, I prefer the trappist quads over anything else but every now and then I come across a gem of an IPA or Stout. This is one of them. Bitter to the end but not obnoxiously so. The trait of every great beer is balance and this certainly has it. Easy to drink on a hot day........too easy. Great feel on the tongue. Any serious IPA lover would appreciate this beer. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 19, 2009 Bottle. Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Golden color. Aroma of grapefruit, peach, citrus, fruit, piney. Over the palate came also light perfume like and mild soap notes supplied with nice backdrop of caramel and toasted malt. Full bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor that was well balanced. Cannot believe how smooth and almost creamy like this goes down. Dry bitter creamy finish. Lovely.
