bbrock81 (218), Le Mars, Iowa, USA May 26, 2009 750 mL bottle in Seattle. Pours a clear, darkish gold with a small foamy head. Aroma is rich with spicy, citrusy, resinous hops. Flavor hits with a lot of hops to start but is very nicely balanced by a rich malt base that comes through. Palate is average. Good IIPA. skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands May 26, 2009 Bottled. Tnx Caesar for the import. Strong aroma of aprikots, pine and grapefruit. Hazy, orange coloured with an off-white head. The taste is very bitter. Bitterness lingers in the end. Quite on the fruity and piny site. Well bodied and a bit oily. Good one. Todeon (314), Sweden May 26, 2009 Bottle. Poured a nice amber color with a thick but small white head. Aroma was fresh hops, grapefruit and citrus. Also a bit floral. Taste is more of the same with a distinct bitter finish. Great DIPA. HighWine (163), , California, USA May 23, 2009 22 oz bottle. Marigold color, thin white head. Grapefruit-citrus hopp nose. Floral bouquet in the mouth followed by a good bitterness. Slightly oily on the palate. Very good but Stone’s "regular" IPA is still my fave. evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England May 23, 2009 Bottle. An amber coloured pour with an average head. Hop, citrus, floral aroma. Wonderful hop blast with just the right balance. God I love this beer, I was drinking this by the pool in Palm Springs last year and I was punching the air with delight, my wife thought I was bloody crazy! If only English beers tasted like this. One of my all time favourites, simply love it! GandGKevin (183), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA May 20, 2009 A solid favorite of mine. I especially like to have one right before my wife does experimental cooking, that way I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything better. alagnak (292), Littleton, Colorado, USA May 18, 2009 Really nice color and head/lacing for an IPA. Smells like the hop-bomb promised on the bottle description (Stone’s bottle monologues are worth the price of admission by themselves). True to the story - the hops completely dominate. Floral and just piney enough. Nice astringent fruit in there somewhere - finish is the bitterest part, bitterness just lingers and lingers on the roof of your mouth. Alcohol is there in the middle as it warms. Ruined my palate for the rest of the evening, guess I’ll have another. beerfest5 (128), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA May 18, 2009 FINALLY!, i feel like ive went through every so-called bitter and every one of ’em was way too malty, hoppy, fruity, this one could strip the paint of your walls. great IPA
