thefle (111), , New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2009 pretty good beer here. Tastes fairly hoppy, piney, grassy. everything you could look for in a strong IPA. Gotta love it cuz it’s readily available anywhere, if you’re looking for a good IPA and don’t feel like trying something new this is the way to go Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Apr 12, 2009 Bottle pours a amber bronze body with a white head. Citrus pine and grass. Floral with etoh latent fruit. Grassy pine and earthy bitterness. Good stuff. crackedmachine (82), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 12, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy orange with a thin white head. Fruity, citrus hop aroma. The flavor is quite bitter, but full of other hop qualities as well - particularly mildly sweet citrus. Lasting bitter aftertaste. Stands apart from other strong IPAs (doubles, imperials, whatever) by being neither overly sweet nor heavy. Wonderful. UriahHeep (103), Georgia, USA Apr 11, 2009 Updated: Jun 5, 2009Excellent beer. Monstrous hops, although the bitterness is NOT overwhelming, even at 100+ IBUs. There is a lot of balancing malt sweetness, and amazing hop taste. Many people will say Dogfish 90 Minute is smoother, which may be so, but you seriously can’t go wrong with this beer. joeneugs (282), Livermore, California, USA Apr 11, 2009 Pours golden with an enormous frothy off white head. Very hoppy aroma of grapefruit, pineapple and a hint of caramel sweetness. Tastes fruity and sweet with mouth puckering bitterness at the end. The overpowering hops are balanced slightly with some toffee sweetness. A ton of citrus fruit. Like most people, I like these IIPA’s when they’re not trying to be balanced. This one makes a half hearted attempt, but its really all about the hop. Just the way I like it. A great double IPA. beerchugger (285), Colorado, USA Apr 10, 2009 Updated: Jul 27, 2009Pours a nice dark golden color with a one inch thick white head. The aroma is piney, maybe a little citrusy, and a little sweet. The flavor is citrusy, a little sweet, and definetly some pine. The finish is less astringent than expected. I disagree with Stone’s description as this is actually not too bitter. I was expecting more bitterness, but this is surprisingly well balanced. There is some faint malt characteristic behind the hops that really brings this brew through nicely. It’s a very fine beer, very enjoyable. xShanex (47), Mansfield, Texas, USA Apr 9, 2009 Bomber. Another gem from the boys at Stone. Pours a beautiful rich golden with a slightly off white head. Wonderful lacing. Rich piney hoppy aroma. Strong hop flavor which is perfectly balanced with the malt. Wonderful Double. Have another? Keep em coming!!! Coltrane (108), South Carolina, USA Apr 8, 2009 I always love a double thats only 7.7. This means that the hops are entirely out of whack with the amount of malt, and its certainly the case here. Destroys your tongue, but in the best possibly way. Incredibly piney and so dry it sucks the moisture off your tongue. A beautiful beer,
