COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

pretty well balanced IPA; doesn’t seem like a 100 IBU brew; solid bready toasty malting with a heavy citrus finish. A damn fine IPA.

Almost clear golden amber brew with a thin layer of white foamy head.If this was perfume it would be really expensive.Elegant aroma, luscious aroma of floral hops and piney citrus.Hedonism. pure, plain and simple.

22 oz bottle thanks to secret santa! pours a light clear amber with a big frothy head. smells almost like candy, artificial grape juice aroma, tons of malt and hops. good god, it almost seems like they just liquefied an entire vine of west coast hops. definitely ruins your palate--excellent beer. a good first impression from stone brewing!
oops, i think i just burped up a hops cone. at least that’s what it still tastes like.

Excellent IIPA, super hopped up in both the aroma and taste. As it warmed the alcohol became aLOT more present, but was great. Sweet with a nice bitterness to it. But overall a IIPA i wish was more accesible in Illinois, because it would definitly be on my regular list.

Golden amber color with a really hoppyt aroma to it. It has a good hoppy taste and not too much of a lingering aftertaste. Flavor is good and smooth. Overall a solid double IPA from stone, but would you expect anything less.

Golden ale with no head. Light hops aroma Rather nice hops and malts, light citrus. Good bitterness but not ruinating. Good balance and body. (Sept. 2004)

Very slightly hazy amber with not much of a short lasting off white head. Strong honey floral nectar, almonds and fresh hop pellet and woody stem aroma. Medium smooth body. Initial flavour impact is one of mouth stripping bitter. My drinking buddies were concerned that it would etch the gold label off the Duvel glasses we were drinking from. There’s no doubt about the seriously strong bitter but there’s much much more to this beer than just bitter. There’s a fair bit of matching treacly malty sweetness and the hops have a spectrum of floral and industrial strength cleaner flavours all of which nicely mask the highish ABV. I’m not sure I could drink too many of these in a row and for all round drinkability I still favour the regular Stone IPA

This is a world-class beer. I like my double IPAs without the over the top alcohol. This one pours a syrupy golden color with a nice fluffy head and effervescent bubbles. Perfumy hops with some pineapple. Well balanced flavor. Don’t buy the propaganda, because I don’t feel this is over the top at all. Rich in malt, very sweet backbone, with a broad array of flavorful hops. Not overly piney or citric, just a friendly melange of bitterness. Alcohol is slightly evident on the aftertaste, but is fairly non-existent. A nice brew for sure.

Thanks to clarkvv for sharing this bottle. Amber/golden color with a white head. Lots of hop aroma along with malts and alcohol. Big hop taste, but that was expected. The hops were the piney type. The hops seemed to be a bit unbalanced but there was a malt taste in there as well. Some alcohol, more than I expected. A long lasting bitter taste. This was good, but I like the regular IPA better.

Pours golden amber with thin white head. Nice hop nose with citrus. Strong hop bite finishes bitter and warming. Interesting blend of flavors.
