Yeah Baby! Hophead wet dream! Go on wit yo bad selves Stone. Strong pine and citrus with that distinctive Stone smooth finsh. They are the masters of the clean yet un-watery finish.

Lots of grapefruit, pine in the aroma. Taste is herbal, citrusy... bitter, yes, though it doesnít taste like 100+ to me. I guess they did a nice job balancing it.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 30, 2005 My best description of this beer is pink grapefruit smell and pink grapefruit skin taste. Very citrus and the first taste trail is sweet and then goes bitter on the trail. Excellent take on an IPA!!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours copper-orange with a generous white head, some effervescence, and nice lacing. Smells like a sandwich consisting of oranges, grapefruits, and pine needles. Nice and hoppy flavor, but not as much so as other Double IPAs Iíve had. Very well-balanced. Excellent, but kind of on the border between an IPA and a Double IPA.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22-oz bottle. Pours copper with a frothy off-white head and excellent spotty lacing. Resinous floral hop with huge pine notes and background caramel malts. Fizzy and spicy hoppy moderately acidic dry pine flavor with alcohol notes but mostly covered by the hops. Medium bodied and warming dry and fizzy palate.

Sampled from a bottle at the montly meeting of the Champaign-Urbana Beer Club. Aroma of pine and citrus meet up strongly (dare I say harshly?) on the palate. This is a "brutal" hop attack, which is impressive given this was poured alongside Dreadnaught, 90 Minute, Hercules, and a few other good IPAs. Perhaps Iím a wimp, but I tend to find Stoneís standard IPA more enjoyable. Some time in the cellar might round out the flavors for a better balance.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (GBBF): Insane Hop Juice!! Dark gold clear with a lasting beige head. Juicy citric hop aroma. Pure hop flavour all the way through, loads of lychee, grass, citrus and grapefruit. Medium bodied, very refreshing. Nice stuff, though a little over the top at times.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2006 Before I begin, I would first like to thank Stone Brewing Co. for the brutal masscre of countless hops. Orange with a thin white head. Looks almost identical to the picture. Aroma is floral and grassy with citrus notes (orange and lemon). The fruitiness is muted by the hop aroma. The first taste made me smile and cringe at the same time. I said to my good friend, "I got some words before you even try that." Can we say pure hop power? The aroma and appearance donít do the flavor justice. It is strongly hoppy at first. With each sip it gets sweeter. The first sip punches you in the face then it gets sweeter and sweeter. More fruity with every sip after the first. The hops are still there but already did their damage. I donít even know what to say other than it is so good. Strong malty body to it to balnce it. The appearance and aroma are what keep me from the perfect score here. As far as flavor goes this has to be up there. Worth every penny and then some.

I am not a fan of IPAís and this one proved it for me not that it is a bad beer but not for my palate. If you like bitter, hoppy beers this ones for you.

Clear amber with a thick murky hop aroma. Strong hop flavour, and bitter but not that bitter. Thereís better flavour in their regular IPA.
