Please note that the Ruination produced in Europe is the Ruination Double IPA 2.0
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

What I like most about this beer is how rocked I can get from it. Then there’s the insane level of hops with little regard for the taste buds of lesser people. I drink this a lot and you should too. I’ve made something along these lines before. It was pretty good. We drank all 5 gallons in 2 afternoons.

Bottle (Courtesy of Hogtownharry): Poured a bright copper color beer with a nice foamy bright white head with great lacing and retention. Beautiful floral aroma with solid sweet malt as a backbone. Taste is also dominated by the floral texture of the hops with a great nice bitter finish. Great balance between bitter and floral malt and great presence of malt. Body is above average and alcohol is well hidden. I was really impress since I am not the greatest fan of IIPA.

22 oz bottle. Golden copper body with a small white head. I could smell the hop aroma halfway across the room, although I did find some sweetness in the aroma as well. Flavor is bold but well balanced initially between the heavy hop bite and the malty sweetness. The finish is huge bitter hops. Very good beer.

Holy crap! This stuff is great. Floral and citrus notes, and MAN those hops! Their IPA is good but this is better.

All honor and glory to this massive sweating hop plant that birthed this noble sacrifice i accept thee with all graciousness, viciousness, and splendour, wo and yea, as ye raise and sow destruction upon the razed ruins of my homeland. may i not weep for what i have lost, for i have been spared by glory.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2008 Bottle. First impression: Sweet, Sweet Hops! Very hoppy aroma, almost enough to send you into an hop heaven nirvana. Keeps a nice head with a lot of spirit in it. Great flavor that is a step above their IPA (slight citrusy falvor assocaited with CA brewers). Good IIPA

Pour is clear golden copper with a white head that leave moderately quick. Aroma is all hops, not malt detected. There was a mixture of floral, citrus and pine. Medium bodied beer is a resiny feel. Light carbonation with a very crisp taste. Flavor starts off with a floral / citrus hoppiness. The finish has some of those hops qualities, but lots of piney hops come out on the finish. Laster in the glass the finish becomes a mixture of grapefruit and pinecones. Lighter bodied than most IIPAs, but still a very nice beer.

I’ve been waiting a year and a half to rate this. See, I originally had it in San Diego before i had developed a palate for hops. So I refused to rate it until I had developed the palate. SO, here it is over a year later and courtesy of shag. Gorgeous orange color with foamy white head. Aromas of orange citrus, small hint of lemon but not enough to brag about, a lot of pine aroma and hops like whoa on the nose. The flavor is kick you in the face with hops, very nice citrus complement, and the pine adds to the bitterness. Very clean finish, not as dry as i remember it from before. an excellent beer.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2007 22 oz. Bottle. Pours copper with a large off-white head. Aroma of citrus, and loads of piney hops. Flavor is sweet up-front, loads of citrus and hoppy bitterness, but surprisingly not to overwhelming. Good body, damn good IPA.
