4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Looks an unimpressive red/gold with a crumby loose head. The aroma is terrific, fruit punch, bubblegum, malt, and of course, resinous hops. The mouthfeel is resinous and smooth/slippery with just the right CO2 (I see why the head stunk). The warming influence it has on the innards is also rather pleasant. The flavor is insanely complex. I can taste everything in the aroma with addition of grapefruit, pine, Umbelliferous (carrot family-like) tastes and perhaps a little salt. Oh yeah, and truckloads of hops and malt. Oh, and I think I forgot to mention that this beer is rather bitter, though thereís so much else going on itís easy to overlook. I canít think of a beer this sweet or this hoppy that pulls it off quite so well, Good job Stone!

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
golden/copper color with a lot of carbonation, head doesnt last- big white bubbles. Appearance overall is a little weak. Aroma is great, I get grapefruit, mint, general fruitiness, hoppy. This beer is super strong, very hoppy, bitter. Definitely unique.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rich gold color followed by a rich hoppy flavor. It ran rampant with hoppiness, hints of pine, citrus, and no worries of sweetness. Hops are all you get! I liked this IPA very much and will have another soon.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
CLoudy golden appearance sith a frothed white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a flowery malt with sweet undertones. Flavor is fruit like with a sharp bitterness from the overwhelmingly hopped brew. Very good. Palate bitterness holds tight and finishes with a crisp hint of sweet clover. Unique. One of my favorite IPAs. Will buy again.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz. bomber at 55 degrees. Pours a slightly hazy sunset orange with a frothy and lasting white head. Just a huge hop nose emminates from the snifter. Orange, grapefruit, crushed pine needles, itís all right up front, but not much in the way of any malt aromas to be found. A nice round mouthfeel with the subdued carbonation level keeping it silky smooth. Massive hop flavor profile; like biting into a whole grapefruit encrusted in honey and pine needles. Some faint crystal malt sweetness attempts to balance out the big muscle hops. Finishes with a big, bold and crisp bitterness; nice and long. The 7.7% interplays nicely being present just enough to accentuate all the luscious flavors of this classic American IPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle poured a nice golden color with a tall frothy white head. Big hop profile in the nose. Before opening the bottle you read the description and see the 100+ IBU so you expect a massively hopped beer. The flavor was very nice with notes of pine, grapefruit, and dry bitterness. Solid brew, but it didnít seem much more hoppier than their regular IPA. Hard to classify this as a DIPA if I compare the others DIPAís Iíve had.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz. Bottle: pours a nice bright golden orange color with a big foamy white head -which leaves tons of lacing behind. I have to agree with most everyone else that you should let it warm to experience the full flavors of this beer. First sniffs indicate big-time hops with soapy lavender and sweet grapefruit aromas. As it warms I get some peach and a definite apricot scent. Tasting is just as nice, with a big full goopy fruity sweetness that rolls off the tongue into bitter and then ends with a cleansing, almost puckering astringency. All of the transitions were seamless, and this beer was quite tasty. Iíll be having more.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2006 I equate this beer with shotgun blast to the face....but in the best possible way. I occasionally have to look down to make sure iím not eating a floral arrangement. I know that might not sound appealing to some, but then again, neither do other forms of masochism. lots of carbs on hand if i plan to finish off a bottle. What an awesome beer. Listen to the bottle and serve at cellar temp.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Durable white head atop a faintly hazy gold pour, just fantastic looking. Wow, this beer really smells great! Massive hop aromas cover a touch of light honey. To really appreciate the flavor this needs to warm up for a bit, otherwise the hops are just too pervasive. Once the right temperature is reached, you can appreciate a nice malty base that provides a medium body and clean mouthfeel. Nonetheless, the hops are showcased throughout with grapefruit, lemon zest, and pepper flavors followed by an astringent, refreshing, and lasting bitter finish. Maybe it leans a little too much to the hop end of the spectrum as far as balance, but thatís perfectly fine for my tastes. The more I drink, the more I like it.
