ericsondr (8), Camano Island, USA does not count Oct 24, 2009 Pours a golden caramel color with a very rich white head. The extra hops make this beer very bitter.... yet a very attractive selection. Enjoyed it with a chicken Alfredo pizza and it complimented it well. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Oct 22, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a light golden yellow with a nice finger of white head that lingers before leaving some light lacing. Huge floral hop aroma. Taste begins with a big smack of hops which lends itself to a nice grapefriut citrus that then ends with a thicker, malty taste. Big hop bitterness from start to finish, but still very smooth. Sledutah (20), Utah, USA Oct 21, 2009 Nice golden color with a light head. Nice strong floral aroma with lots of hops. When you take a sip, the hops hit you strong at first but finishes off smooth. This is a very good IPA. slang (392), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 17, 2009 bomber. Punch you in the face w/ a pure extremely fresh hop fist. You’re comforted by some malts, but barely. The hop assault continues throughout & left me trying to pin all the flavors. Sheets of fluffy lacing lasts long. Amazing! casualbrewery (1), Washington, USA does not count Oct 15, 2009 My favorite from Stone, and probably my favorite bottled beer. If you like/love IPAs, and have not yet tried it, you are missing out.
My only warning is to drink it last if you’re enjoying multiple styles of beer in the evening. "Ruination" is very adequately named, and has this way of making you notice impurities in other brews. tedovertu (259), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Oct 14, 2009 Actually liked Stones regular IPA a little better. This one had more of a syrupy texture. I like the crisper texture of the regular IPA. This is really good. Amazing lacing and lasting head. More of a sweetfruit other than grapefruit on this one. Amazing medium amber hazy color. With a 100+ IBU it is rather bitter. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Oct 12, 2009 Pours hazy golden, off white head. Nose is full of hop fruits, very citric, tropical. Sweet candy malt present too.
HOPS! Big dominating American hops, very bitter! Peppery almost. Tropical fruits are strong, with a subtle spice joining the massive citric bitterness on the finish.
This is just what I want in an American IPA, big fruity hops and big bitterness balanced just enough to make it tolerable. Wonderful. Needs moar. BNSLY (43), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 9, 2009 A overwhelming beer. pours a rich gold orange. looks like syrup. the aroma is all hops. Taste like a whole truck load of hops. Any other beer after this is not worthy. pretty amazing beer. I am not worthy
