COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2008 2008-09-05. Hazy dark orange body with a small white head. (3+) Big hoppy aroma, resin and citrus, lemon and orange. Flavour is quite bitter, resin and orange hops, but mostly bitterness. Average plus palate suits the beer nicely. (3+) Solid but a bit rough at times. 8/3+/8/3+/16 - 3.8 Bottle from Skagway Liquor Store.

July 2004. Golden amber bodied with a small fluffy white head. MASSIVE hop aroma with notes of green hop pellets and some more subtle notes of pine. Flavour builds in intensity as the hops wear down your palate. This is all about the hoppy bitterness and it lingers on the tongue for a goodly long time. Surprisingly pleasant kick in the pants. A bit one dimensional but that is sort of the point here. Callie brought this back for me from Cali. Hehe. 9/3/8/3/15 - 3.9

Citrus, pine and malt aroma. Orange, pouring a fair sized, rocky, custard head, plenty of lace. Flavour at first is orange peel, then a creamy malt background. Full bodied, crunchy, extra hoppy bitterness. A very bold offering! Thanks so much Aurelius!

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2005 Orange/yellow color, mild carbonation, thick frothy white head. Dense, sweet, hoppy aroma. Full-bodied with a nice bitter kick. The bitterness lingers on the tongue long after the swallow. Drinking this beer always makes me somewhat content. My girlfriend gets jealous because I donít smile at her the way I smile at this beer. I guess the hops get o my head a little bit.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 I tasted this alongside their regular IPA and to be fair I really canít see a great deal of difference between the brews. Similar orange coloured beer with a white head. Aroma shows pine, grapefruit, other citrus, caramel and cookie dough malts. A bit more bitterness than the IPA but not as much as I expected. Some alcohol starts to sneak in at the end of this one. Less balanced than the IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2007 Bottle. Golden-amber beer with a big off-white head. Aroma of sweet grapefruit with some caramel backing. Thereís some balance here (if you can call something thatís still dominated by hops balanced). Itís smooth for a beer of this type. Bitterness prevails in some grapefruit/tar flavors, but itís relatively easy to drink. Less malt and assertiveness than an arogant bastard.

Very bitter and I love it, lots of hops in this bad boy, I recommend this if you love bitter beer. It has a great aroma, of hops and malts, very hoppy. If you havenít had it, get it!

This is the top of the IPA food chain in my opinion. Hopp madness in a bottle, but yet somehow controlled and balanced within itís environment. Simply an amazing work of art!

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2006 Bottle. Poured a nice bright orange color. Thick, big bubbled headthat lasts for quite a while and fades down to a modest layer over the beer. Great lacing. Aroma of piney and citric hop, bits of melon?? and malt. Very nice. Juicy hop flavor. A touch overdone, but restrained still. This one seems to be about to kick your head in with IBUís and pulls back at the last moment. . Malt and hop compete for a bit and then a long citrus hop finish. Very pleasant.

More orange and grapefruit. Honestly, itís a little sweeter than Dreadnaught, but other than that, I can barely tell the difference. I donít know if Iíll ever learn to sort out hop complexities. This was.....interesting....not bad, certainly not....but way too much in the hop juice category.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2009 Awesome pale/ orange color with a nice fluffy white head and great lacing. Lots and lots of citrus hops in the aroma, and maybe some piney aromas too. Flavor is backed slightly by hops but again- is dominated by those strong american hops. Probably not too much chinook in here like in AB, which gives it more of a smooth citrusy and floral aroma and taste. Mouthfeel is great and it leaves an excellent sticky resin on the back of your throat. One of the best Imperial IPAís however, I think that victoryís Hop wallop uses a little more hops and is indeed more bitter, which is not to say one is better than the other. I like them both about the same. However- I have brewed Imperial IPAís that blow this out of the water as far as hoppiness goes. I really liked this beer and I will pick up plenty more next time i go out to my distributer.
