Please note that the Ruination produced in Europe is the Ruination Double IPA 2.0
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Bottle. Pours a honey color with fluffy white head. The aroma is strong, zesty hops and a touch of malty sweetness. The flavor is powerful floral hops, and lots of ’em, almost to the point of being overwhelming, with a bit of malt in the background. But, of course, this is Stone, so they manage to make a tasty beverage out of something that would be otherwise undrinkable because of its intensity.

Opening the bottle and sniffing, even before pouring brings back memories of homebrewing when the house would fill with those wonderful aromas of malt and hops, hops, hops. On further inspection, there is aggressive citrus and pine here, fruitiness and malt. The flavor, despite the 100+ bitterness is not overhwhelming, but the aroma hops explode in the mouth, leaving a semi-sweet yet bitter finish. Excellent.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2011 Bottle on 07/02/2011. Clear golden amber body with a large frothy white head that leaves a sticky lacing. Sweet citrus and resiny hop aroma with a caramel and light fruit background. Sweet citrus and resiny hop flavor, some caramel and a firm dry bitter finish that lingers. Medium full body with moderate carbonation - 8/4/9/4/17 - 4.2 11/20/2005: Frothy white head and a light amber color. This beer has a clearly hoppy aroma and a bitter flavor that wont disappoint. This is the hoppiness that should be in any IPA. 8/5/10/4/17 - 4.3

Pours a amber color with a medium white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Flavor is majorly hoppy with mild roast. A Bitter finish concludes this wonderful IIPA. One of my top favorites.

Well for you hop freaks just go ahead and chew on some Fuggles & Cascade! Dare I say hoppy without being trite. :-) Very much as advertised ... Not my gig ... that said ... a very solid entry as judged from my esteemed IPAer colleagues & friends.

Tall white head offers a beer that is a sharp kick of hops. To say hops is really quite an understatement as the layers and flavors within this hop format are endless and ripe. The nose really only provides a glimpse of the depth of the tastes of pine, grapefruit, and dry bitterness. Ideal for hop lovers and not nearly as brutal as the Stone promotional writing suggests.
