So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Bottle, shared with richlikebeer, thanks homie. Aroma was nice piney hop with a little banana in there. Pour was nice copper. Flavor was good a nice bitterness in it’s hops, a hint of sweet malts and some more fruit. Palate for me was right on nice body and finish. Overall another solid Stone.

Cloudy,orange-amber color. Definitely a strong bitter taste, but smooth for an IPA.Sweet undertones. Full body.High hops. Thanks to richlikebeer for this one!

tons of hops, in both the aroma and the flavor, but i think this needs a little more malt balance to put it into the upper echelon of IIPA’s. lots of pine, some citrus, and a little bit of grass, but not enough backbone to counter all of the hops. the bitterness is a bit too much, and the overall character of this is coser to a regular IPA than an imperial. as part 5 of IIPA Sunday, this was a little dissapointing.

A nice example of an imperial IPA. Leans more to the bitterness side, without much sweet. Head was very thick and foamy, leaving a resinous aroma. Full bodied, it starts with the flavor of chewing on a pine needle and rounds out with some grapefruit and ends with a bitter hop kick.

Classic example of an imperial IPA. Strong american hop flavors of pine, grapefruit and other citrus. Tasty, if not a bit one dimensional.

22oz bottle from OhioDad...Thanks Scott! Pours a deep orange color with a big foamy white head. nose is kinda faint, light piney notes and some citrus is involved. taste is quite unimpressive. Hops of course are the main thing, very little malt backbone here to support the hops, decent bitterness in the finish.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2007 Rerate. Draft at Frisco’s. Clear pale body with a small off-white head. The aroma is floral and citrus with light cotton candy sweetness. The flavor is just lightly sweet and moderately bitter with grapefruit, tangerine and caramel. Medium body is round with light carbonation. Decent, but unremarkable. I had this next to Clipper City’s Loose Cannon and the Loose Cannon was easily better.

Pours dark amber with a quickly vanishing head. Aroma is hoppy and piney. Flavor has a lot of hops, some malt and very nice mouth coating. This is a fantastic IPA!

Aromas of pine and citrus with bitter, hoppy flavor. Very nice amber/orange color with a long lastng, slightly offwhite head. If you like your beer hoppy, then you’ll love this.
