4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer rules. I had it from the bomber the other night and was very sad when it was over. Although you (as I) may not be able to afford this beer regularly, it is a real treat if you love imperial IPAs.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This isn’t as hoppy and ruinous as the back of the bottle might claim, but it is a great beer for hop heads. Nice light hued amber with tightly packed small bubbles leave nice lacing. Good heavy hop scent, but not extreme. Flavor and palate; nice mix of malt and lots of hops, leaves mouth (and liver) wanting more.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted in Toronto. Obtained from Fred’s Market in Berkeley CA. Colour is an intense and deep golden, almost like amber. Very clear and absolutely no head. Aroma is incredibly floral, spicy and slightly bitter - no hint of malt or sweetness in the scent. Flavour is intense, with a lingering acrid bitterness that bites the hell out of the taste buds.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A very small Double in my opinion. This is more of an IPA. Some sweet malt almost honeyed. Biscuity and cookie malt notes. ok bitterness but not Stone big. A small Imperial by CA standards. Needs buttloads more hop bitterness and resin.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Huge flowery and citrus hop aroma that I could smell as soon as I popped the top. Pours a medium orange color with a giant, frothy white head. Flavors are grapefruit, oranges, some grass, some must, with a nice malt balance. medium-full bodied. Great brew.

I had a lot of double I.P.A.’s this day. This one ranked in the top 84th percentile.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2010 Has a loose but thick head and a coppery amber color with resin and grapefruit in the aroma. The resin returns in the flavor along with very little malt flavor (a positive in this case) which leaves a clear palate for the hops profile. Lots of crisp, bitterness that leads into a long, lingering finish. ts well balanced alcohol makes this a clean, clear, and refreshing hops celebration.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle. Pour is a deep orange with thick creamy tan head. Aroma is of apples, citrus fruits and hops. Taste is powerful and hits like a punch to the face. Sweet and hoppy with a strong alcohol presence. Nice and thick with a dry bitter finish. Seems like a regular IPA with everything just turned up a notch. Not the most flavorful beer, but very strong and the quality is obvious.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Has that cake-like flavor and aroma I find in some beers (usually American Strong Ales) that just gets my gag reflex going. With all the hype about how bitter this was going to be I was hoping to drink something resembling Pine-Sol but alas I was dissapointed with this cloudy orange beer. Nice lacing and great bitter finish are a few redeming qualities but it was a miss-fire in my opinion, especially considering what a perfect example of the style that their IPA is. I would expect the same result from Stone’s Imperial IPA offering.
