Tasted just the same, with an insane bitterness to it which I didn’t enjoy, but did expect. Overall I’d like it more without such a bitter edge, but I’m not a great hop fan either so... njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Ridiculous. Huge citrusy/piney aroma. Huge hop flavor and bitterness as expected. Too bitter for my taste but why else would you get this. Stone’s regular IPA is actually really good (I don’t like hoppy beers) but this is that times 10. Solid but not my cup o’ tea/beer. jeff789 (377), Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Pours a hazy amber with a small head that leaves great lacing... Big citrus hop nose, smells nice... Excellent west coast double flavor... Big hops without the unnecessary sweet maltiness... Doesnt have the creaminess i’ve come to despise in double ipa’s, but then again it is 7.7% not 10%... Easy drinking... Amazing 1.5 IPA clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Updated: Feb 24, 2009This is just wonderful. I had moderately high expectations that were all but met. This pours a hazy orangish color with a nice big fluffy head that goes away a bit but that picture over there does the actual head of this beer little justice, there is some lace but nothing to get excited about. The aroma is at first floral and piney with some mild sweetness, but generally it’s a lot of good hops. About halfway through my glass I started to notice a really odd alcohol aroma, a really bad one that smelled of paint thinner and mildly distracted from the enjoyment of the beer, but I digress it is nothing that the taste didn’t make up for. I was surprised at how quickly I drank the glass of this, I mean to say that something this hoppy tends keep me drinking, I don’t know what exactly this means, but I think it means I am glad I just got a bomber, because I would be hurting from a six pack. Eh, whatever... this tastes pretty gosh darned good. it’s really tongue wrenchingly bitter, and I dig that, a lot of beers from this style have been disappointingly sweet. so I like the good bitterness of this one. Flavor is nicely complex with good apricot, and citrus fruity notes some orange & of course some grapefruit. Other delightful flavors include notes of wood, pine, and a sugary malt sweetness that is not quite enough to balance it out, but this isn’t all about balance now is it? thejon375 (392), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Not my favorite kind of beer. But still tastes like drinking potpourri liquid. If you like hoppy ass beer then drink this one. andersand (306), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Maybe my bottle wasn’t quite fresh enough but this came of as a tad too weak for me. It was damn tasty, well balanced and very easy to drink but lacking some brightness and more agressive hop character overall. Looking forward to a re-rate though.
