Cornfield (4263), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 26, 2005 Updated: Jul 6, 2005 "O Frabjous Day! Calloo! Callay!" A hop-head’s delight! The aroma, tho’, is actually more tame than I’d expected, having heard Stone’s braggadocio and word-of-mouth from the embittered. Coming from this apricot colored, two-finger headed brew is a serious grapefruit/piney/herbal/earthy hop aroma, sure to wake the weary, but not overpowering. It’s in the drinking that the 100+ IBUs really come across. Plenty of the mouth-burning, tear-inducing hop bitterness that I’ve grown to crave. Sure, there’s some malt there, but in this kind of a brew, I don’t care! Great lingering bitter finish, causing my mouth to water, making me want more!

NextBestThing (15), Westtown, New York, USA Sep 6, 2008 Too much. Over the top hoppiness, more than necessary. I love Stone but prefer their basic IPA to Ruination. I don’t get even the whisper of a malt backbone, just hops for the sake of over-hoppiness. Not horrible by any stretch, a reasonably drinkable brew but there are other more desirable alternatives. If you get a reasonable example of Dogfish 90 Minute you’re drinking a better beer. Still acceptable if it’s the only bottle of Stone at your disposal. SamAdams777 (36), Abilene or Stephenville, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 Damn, is this beer good or what? Its a hop lovers dream. Take a sniff from your bottle, smells amazing. Malty, hoppy, sour. Stone brewery doesnt skimp on quality here. Take a huge mouth full and just let it settle on the back of your tongue before you swallow. This is what beer is about. Cheers! to another great Stone brewery product. This beer is a punch in the face and a pure invasion of the senses. lumberjack (139), Michigan, USA Sep 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle...Pours a nice golden hue with beautiful creamy white head. Lots of lacing. Nose is grapefruit, grass, and caramel. Palate is a creamy, perfectly-carbonated sensation. Taste is bitter with grapefruity hops dominating. There is a nice malt backbone here, with some caramel and maybe even honey notes being picked up. Man is this stuff good. Sk8tybrd (6), USA does not count Sep 2, 2008 Lovely golden-orange in color. A blast of piney hops and fresh flowers from the galss, at first wave, with citrus and spice notes. A zesty, but balanced on the palate. Orange zest right away fading to a piney, mineraly finish. Creamy and full bodied. A pleasure to sit and sip! I’ll definately have another! sinkr (135), Lusby, Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle->tulip: Pours a large, rocky, white head atop a clody, orange body. Hops are perfume-y with some citrus aftertones. The body is full, texture creamy, carbonation lively, and has a bitter finish. The duration is average and is heavily acidic and bitter. A definite winner in my book!
