So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

The only turn off is the high price tag as itís almost twice as expensive as other high uality IPAs. Just a terrif flavor, robably the icon of the IPA class. a picture of this bottle could be in Websters. The aroma is that of a half dozen random fruit-scented Yankee Candles and the taste is like gourmet fruit infused bubblegum. A great offering that most people could enjpy.

Aroma: Hops:citrus, spruce, slight alcohol smell Appearance: golden, cloudy, frothy, some lacing all the way down Taste: Heavy bitterness due to hops. The hops come through as pine and citrus fruit Palate: Full bodied, average carbonation with a bitter finish Overall: after first sip I thought I was the victim of a over-hyped beer again, but as I got a few sips in the hoppy goodness revealed itself. If you like hops you will appreciate this beer, if you donít stay away.

I really enjoy this beer. Very hoppy yet well balanced. The only draw back is the price.

22 oz. bottle. Can really taste the 100+ IBU in this one. Color is a dark yellow, with only a slight hop aroma. Starts off with a nice citrus-grapefruit hoppyness with a hint of pine or spruce at the end. Can really taste the bitterness between drinks. Good, but not the best.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2014 I am a big fan of Stone Brewing and this is probably my favorite beer by them. The aroma is citrus and floral with a very strong alcohol presence. The appearance is orange with a white head. The taste is very bitter, and at the same time is layered with multiple flavors. The palate is where this beer is at its best. it has a full body and long finish that just keeps lingering. This is one of the best DIPA?s that i have had and would highly recommend this to anyone interested in a bitter beer.

It is hard to find anything wrong here. The hops are in your face with an amazing finish. I would drive 2 hour for several of these!

It did "ruin" me for many other IPAs. Strong as they come, but still a nice balance with the malts.

tons of hops and nice dry finish. leaves you with some sharpness to the tongue, but nicely balanced and incredibly mouthfull at the same time. one of the best double ipaís i have ever had.
