COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

UPDATED: APR 13, 2013 A hazy golden orange with a big foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of citrus and some tropical fruits with a piney and somewhat floral hop scent. Citrus and lemon taste with grassy/piney hop character and just a tinge of sweetness that keeps the bitterness in check. Finishes with a bright bitterness that fades away nicely and isn’t at all harsh. Nice creamy mouthfeel with medium/full body and medium carbonation. My kind of DIPA. Hoppy but not harshly bitter, with just enough sweetness to notice and keep it all in check. ---Jeremy H

Sweet citrus aroma. Copper color with a small white head. Full palate. They did a great job in balancing this very high hopped beer.

Bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours a pale orange with a thin white head. The nose has big citrus and grapefruit notes with lots of booze coming through as well as a slightly sweet malty tone. It's medium bodied with low carbonation. Taste is massively hopped with loads of grape fruit and citrus with boozy notes and subtle honey sweetness. The finish is that bitter and dry that the friction generated between the beer and my taste buds almost started a fire. Such an awesome beer!

Time to try another American IPA icon. From a 355ml bottle on 28/1/2015. Pours a cloudy light golden with the smallest of heads. Has a gorgeous quite typical IPA nose, with lots of floral fruity hops against a caramel background. Take a sip and there’s a decent caramel malt backbone, sweet orange and peach, and marmalade. The hops are, as expected, big and super resiny, with some grapefruit notes following leading to a finish which is just a touch salty. Medium bodied with average carbonation. All up, this is a terrific double IPA and certainly one of the best smelling beers I’ve ever encountered. That said, I thought the standard Stone IPA was a just bit better balanced overall, and, if pushed, I’d take the Sculpin I downed last night over this. Still, ’Liquid poem to the glory of the hop’ is a more than adequate description.

Golden pour with a white head. Unsurprisingly packed with resin, pine, citrus, nedium malt body and punishing bitterness. A very good brew, but, in my opinion, could use a little more sweetness from the malt.

Bottle at home. Golden/orange coloured, nicely clear, slim white head. Aromatic hoppy nose with tropical and citrus fruits. Taste has more resinous hoppiness, firm (almost aggressive) bitterness on top of a nicely malted base. Aftertaste lingers nicely, not surprisingly considering the full body. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation.

Great head retention, very pleasing to the eye. Dank melons and peaches. Hops taste reminds me of a cinnamon red hot. It's floral, spicy and intriguing to drink. Very aggressive hops. A bomb ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flowery aroma with a straw color. Malty base with a full hop profile. Clean palate and clear aftertaste.

Poured from a bottle. Not bad but overrated. Cloudy orange, little head, slight lacing. The aroma was the best part: maybe candied apricots. More bitterness on the swallow.

Aroma of apricot, hops, pine and hops. Caramel color with a short lasting white well laced head. Dry chalky feel with a taste of fruit, and hops with a very bitter finish.
