So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2013 Premium golden body, noticeable carbonation with a greyish white dissipating to film head. Floppy grapefruit, over sweetened maltiness and big resinous swell. Initial taste is a suprmely bittered stickly, coating carbination. Firm malt skirting is kicked in by a fully expected hop grating of the palate. I remember this being much more impressive. The lack of complexion at the moment is laughable.

Has a little bit of grapefruit flavor, but the beer is all bitterness. Like the bottle proclaims, the bitter flavor dominates your mouth a while after you drink it. I admire the beer, but I also have to admit itís a bit much for me.

Bottle. Pours clear orange/ bronze with a white head. Smells nutty, oranges. A nicely balanced IPA, not overly hoppy, not too malty, great bitter finish. Very piney, clean and crisp. A really enjoyable beer.

On tap at Westow House. A welcome surprise to find this on tap. Pours a hazy gold colour with a white head. Light trop fruit aroma with some lemon. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Tangerine, funky fruit, big grapefruit bitterness. Yep, tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A bit too bitter for me, at least when thereís no balance. Still good but preferred the Avery IPA. From back log 3 weeks ago.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 On tap poured into an 8oz snifter. The initial aromas of citrus and light caramel come through. Thereís also a some hints of honey, clove, pine, and wood. It pours a clear orange-yellow body with a light, tan head that recedes quickly and doesnít really lace. Extremely hoppy bitterness with a light, mild caramel sweetness underneath (but the bitterness almost washes the sweet out). Itís a medium bodied beer with an average amount of carbonation. It hits the tongue with mostly citrus rind, pine, and some buttery/caramel notes. It definitely fills the mouth with a sharp, astringent and pine bitter quality throughout, but this does give way a bit to some light fruit notes. It finishes dry and clean with bitter citrus astringency and some. This finish sticks around in the aftertaste.

Pours a hazy amber with minimal white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and some sweetness mixed in of vanilla and caramel. Taste was rather off on this and Iím not sure if I got an old bottle or not. Taste was extreme lemon up front, honestly tasted like lemon dawn dish soap. Iíd like to try a fresh one to compare, but Iíll put my rating in now based on what I experienced. Still wasnít terrible, good amount of bitter and dryness.

Clear, slightly pale yellow-gold with a head of about one finger. Warm hop smell. Evergreen, some fruit, malty bread. Pretty bitter, even for someone who drinks a lot of IPAís. Citrus peel. Clean, simple flavor. Finishes very dry.
