COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

This is in my top 5 all time favorites. Very nice hoppy bite. Good floral aroma. It is very, very good. I love it.

Pours cloudy orange. Nice aroma of fruity citrusy hops. Initial sweetness and hoppyness give way to a bitterness finish that lingers. Don't feel like 100 IBUs though - perhaps I've broken my tastebuds...a tasty beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the Stone on Tap event at BeerTemple in Amsterdam. Lacing, cream white, medium thick head over a deep orangey blonde, almost clear beer with lively sparkling. Complex and refined DIPA aroma of grapefruit, baking pork fat, freshly cut nettles, bitter honey, green tea, celery, hemp, wet hay, barbecue sausages, bell peppers - in all, less sweet citrussy than usual for the style. Clean onset of dried orange peel, sweetish peach, dried herbs and a touch of pineapple, never turning sweet but instead ’halted’ by a powerful, resiny, lemon peel-like hop bitterness, complex, herbal and spicy, drying for a very long time but still allowing some subtle, juicy malt sweetness to peep through; hint of whisky-like warming alcohol as well, just in the right place. Refinement and balance is key here, and is achieved to a very high extent. One of the most ’aristocraticly’ restrained DIPAs I tasted so far, while still retaining the hoppy force typifying the style. Impressive.

Yowsah. Pours light amber, with a thick rocky everlasting head with good lacing. This is all about piney grapefruity hops, in the nose and in the glass. Lively, bitter finish. Probably not what you want to drink everyday, but when aggressive hops are called for, this is the one.

That’s certainly a lingering bitterness. My cornflakes tasted of hops. It goes well with my coffee. Malty with bold citrus, grassy bitterness from the hops. Hops, hops and more hops.

Pours a slightly hazy gold from a bottle, off-white head shows good retention and lacing. Aroma of ... i don’t even know what really, something pretty good and familiar, maybe a little pipe tobacco someplace in there, almost caramel but not quite. Flavor is pine resin, soap, some floral notes, butterscotch. Bittersweet, somewhat oily, very full mouthfeel, almost creamy. Very good beer. I’m not big on brewers shoving hops into beers the way pizza joints find new places to hide cheese on pizza, but this one does it right without overdoing it.

Among my least liked IPA’s. Too bitter, too thick, seems overly hopped and lacks the balance of some of the other Stone’s. Glory to the hops, I fully agree, but somehow just couldn’t get on board with this one.

Another superlative beer from Stone. An ode to the NW hops, biting, bitter, pungent, resinous, hints of caramel, pine, soap. Bracing, a wake up call for your palate.

Big hop aroma of mango and grapes. No real head and kind of flat, why the poor mouthfeel rating. Flavor was great and intense with the hops. Wish some more carbonation but it understand.

Draught. Pours clear orange with white head. In aroma the beer is floral with a hints of tropical fruits. All backed with solid and pleasant malty base. In flavour similar: malty but wit distinct bitterness and hoppy flavours. Alcohol noticable but it is not unpleasant. Medium to high body, strong bitter finish. In overall not impresive yet very pleasant one.
